Billboard: Radiohead #1 in UK

Radiohead "Thief" Goes Right To No. 1

Radiohead scored its fourth consecutive U.K. No. 1 album yesterday (June 15) as "Hail to the Thief" (Parlophone) went straight to the top of the new chart. It survived a challenge from Annie Lennox's "Bare" (RCA), which entered at No. 3. Meanwhile, Evanescence started a second week at No. 1 on the singles survey with "Bring Me To Life" featuring Paul McCoy (Epic).

The most successful of Radiohead's four British No. 1 albums is its first, 1997's "OK Computer," which logged 75 weeks on the survey. The band also hit the peak with 2000's "Kid A," although that spent only 15 weeks on the chart, and 2001's "Amnesiac," which had a mere 12 weeks. Lennox fails to debut at No. 1 for the first time in her solo career, following 1992's "Diva" and 1995's "Medusa."

The singles chart also welcomed Christina Aguilera at No. 3 with "Fighter" (RCA), the third hit from her album "Stripped." Australian chanteuse Dannii Minogue debuted at No. 5 with "Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling" (London), her seventh U.K. top-10 single, including Riva's No. 3 hit from 2001 on which she guested, "Who Do You Love Now."

Amy Studt, who reached No. 14 in Britain last summer with "Just a Little Girl," followed it with a No. 6 entry for "Misfit" (Polydor). Spanish act DJ Sammy's latest singles success "Sunlight" (Data) opened at No. 8, followed by "Girlfriend" by B2K (Epic) at No. 10.

On the European Top 100 Albums chart, Metallica's "St. Anger" (Vertigo/Mercury) succeeds Evanescence's "Fallen" at No. 1, but the latter group enjoys better news on the Eurochart Hot 100 Singles roundup, where "Bring Me To Life" races 6-1.
