Biggest mind ****...The Recruit...TMR...Mememto...Fight Crub?
What do you think is the biggest mind **** of a movie? One that will leave your brain UTTERLY spinning and in have you scratching your head til the cows come home...
The Recruit...TMR...Mememto... or Fight Club?

To me, The Matix Reloaded, The Recruit, and Fight Club all made sense to me in the time that I watched the movie. Fight Club was completly straight-forward. If that ending had you lost, The Sixth Sense (another plot twist, but straight-forward ending) probably did too. The Recruit kept me guessing, but was not a mind-**** whatsoever. Some conversations in The Matrix Reloaded (mainly just The Oracle and The Architect) had me thinking...for about five minutes.
Movies rarely leave me putting the plot together days later. But to some extent, Memento had me think afterwards. Not much longer, but I was still thinking about it after the credits rolled. I wasn't completly lost, but I felt that I had to make perfect sense of it by playing everything back in my mind.
Mulholland Drive also had me thinking for awhile...actually...I was lost until the third time that I watched it (saw it once in the theaters, twice on DVD). I'm proud to say, though, that I figured the intended plot out completly on my own. I didn't have to read Salon's explanation, this forum, or anything.
I didn't watch Lost Highway until after I read interviews with David Lynch that talked about the plot. So I just watched it, and didn't even care about trying to follow it.
By the way, excluding The Recruit, all of the movies are among my favorites.
If you want to watch one of the biggest mind ****s of all time, check out this one...
I'm not kidding. I'm not saying 'how the hell did this film ever get made', or anything like that. I'm saying "how the hell did that kid do it?". I watched it not to long ago, and it still has me stunned. He seemed to be able to fool the criminal, the irs, those real estate agents, and all of his employees. What an insane mind trip!

The Recruit was a really straight forward movie with a twist "surprise" ending, not much of a mind boggler if you ask me
The Matrix: Reloaded introduced some interesting concepts, and some of the dialogue went by pretty fast. Specifically when it was dealing with the most important aspects of the story. And for actually getting me to think about many of the open ending ideas in the movie, I love it.

I knew the twist to The Recruit just in the trailer alone. I didn't consider that a mind job because it was pretty much laid out infront of you and after years and years of abused "twist" endings, it wasn't anything special.
Fight Club for me was a pretty good twist job. I really enjoyed the film and the twist really came out of no where and made perfect sense. Momento also was just a great film over all. so I would have to go with Fight club or momento as the best twist jobs around.

What with DVDNation's sig and all, I'm astonished no one has mentioned The Usual Suspects.
Also, I walked out of Memento fairly stunned and with a sense I had just had my brain turned inside out. So that is clearly the hands-down winner. (Although I loved Fight Club, but, umm... I can't really talk about that.)

As a rule, any David Lynch film is a mind****.
However, I am surprised no one has said 12 Monkeys (another Terry Gilliam mind****) or Se7en. I mean, seriously, how did the guy plan all these murders out (especially sloth)?
Hmmm...Brad Pitt seems to gravitate toward mind**** movies. Fight Club, 12 Monkeys and Se7en.

The Usual Suspects left me wayyyy confused towards that trip of an end. Definitely had to rewind a little bit to fully get it. On another note, a great flick, looking forward to the second view.
I'll vote for Fight Club too as well. Another movie (like The Usual Suspects I'm sure) that gets better with every watch.

I just watched the Recruit last night, and even half-lit i knew the "twist" about twenty minutes in - and I never figure out movies early.
I'd say a three way tie between Mullholland Dr., Memento, and Donnie Darko. All three inspired much conversation and a strong desire to rewatch it again.
