Hills Have Eyes. Suggestions?

I noticed that an SE is due in Sept. according to Fangoria.com.
I really liked Craven's earlier work, especially Last House on the Left. So what's this movie about, except for the cannibals. I really like, TexasCM, Last House, Wrong Turn, ect. So will this be a must have or rental?

it's kinda silly - I don't remember it all that well since it was a long time ago that I saw it - but all you have to know is it has that really creepy guy (Michael Barryman) in it with the bug eyes and he's creepy.

It's a ruthless, cold film to be sure - very primal horror, though it's not ultra-violent. It's certainly not as schlocky as The Last House On The Left; I found the "we're all savages by nature" aspect of the story quite interesting. And it also has that creepy guy with the bug eyes.

This is one of those films you hear about for years, but somehow never see. I might have to wait for the dvd reviews, first.

If you're a fan of Craven's earlier work, then this is a 'must have'. Along with "A Nightmare on Elm Street " this is, for my money, his best film. It's over the top , funny , brutal, tense and quite original for this sort of fare. Superior in every way to "Last House On the Left" IMHO. Stay away from the sequel, as it's downright awful (and it's not directed by Wes).....

If you like horror movies in general this is definitely a must have. I've been waiting for this dvd for quite some time.

If you liked Wrong Turn you should like this. Its very much the same sort of story but a little less formulaic.

Definitely my favorite Craven flick and one of my top ten favorite films.

Actually Craven did direct Part 2.

IMO, Hills Have Eyes: the original, is not superior to LHOTL. It doesn't hold up over the years, and is a bit schlocky, and dumb.

This is without a doubt one of my FAVORITE horror flicks of all time and to the original poster...

THANK YOU KINDLY for revealing the fact that it's coming to DVD...FIIIINALLY!!!! This, along with Motel Hell, Terror Train and The Boogeyman need a dvd release...desperately!!! The sequel is also good but can't touch the original. And what is The Last House on the Left about? Is there an SE release?

By the way, that Bug Eyed guy is the lead singer of Midnight Oil.

The Hills Have Eyes is one of the best horror films of all time. Although it is a technical improvement on L.H.O.T.L, it's still gritty and grimy. The film is a desert variant of T.C.M., and is almost equal in quality to that masterpiece.
