Songs about Horses

Hey All,

I'm trying to put together a list of good songs about horses (yes, it's to impress a girl)

I've come up with:

Wild Horses - Stones
Wildfire - Michael Martin Murphy/Tracy Byrd

That's it.

Any others?

Thanks!
~ BD

Try the cover of Wild Horses by The Sundays

Then there is the remix (better) of Who's gonna ride your Wild Horses by U2

Anyone remember the old 80's tune "Don't Ride the White Horse" by Laid Back? "If you wanna ride..."

What better way to say "I Love You" than with an Equestrian Mix-Tape...

The Cardigans - A Good Horse
Father Ted - My Lovely Horse (best song about horses...ever!)

Hey BD, since we're helping you out... how about a few details on *why* you're doing this... hmmm??

^sam^ - work for the United States Trotting Association, the governing body for cart Horse Racing.

I'm a software developer. One of my users is the Customer Service Manager. She also owns and races horses. She's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen. Every time she smiles at me, I damn near forget where I am, what I'm saying and anything else.

I was just trying to put together something I thought she might like, you know? Something different to make an impression. Here I am, 34, and acting like a giddy little school boy.

Hannibal - I'm a HUGE Stones fan, but that cover of Wild Horses by the Sundays is AWESOME.

^sam^ - um, not quite to the "I love you" stage just yet, since I've gone to lunch with her a total of one time.

OK, here's another though... how about some good songs about "Smiles"...

"When I See You Smile" - Bad English
"Just to See You Smile" - Tim McGraw

I have a vague memory of there being a horse-related song as a hidden track at the end of Live's Throwing Copper CD. (Whatever it was about, I liked the track.)

"Goodbye Horses" by Q. Lazzarus. It's the song Buffalo Bill plays when he's prancing around his lair with his thing tucked in "Silence of the Lambs". Your girlfriend may freak out if you put it on a tape though.

Wild Horses (not the Stones song) - Garth Brooks
A Horse With No Name - America
A Horse Called Music - Willie Nelson
All the King's Horses - Monkees

The America Way - Hank Williams, Jr. ( Always liked these lines: )
Some high society lady says, ” Is your horse outside?”
“No, ma'am he's between my legs, but you’re too fat to ride!”

BuckeyeDawg,

In the middle of all this, you have to put Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" It will stand out...get your message across.

Either that or that rap song that starts out "Put Em On The Glass...". Just Kidding

"Horse Latitudes", The Doors.

Horrible. More of a poem set to noise than an actual song, but its short.

"Tennessee Stud", Johnny Cash. Excellent.

My lovely lovely lovely Horse!

My lovely horse,
running through the fields...
where are you going, with your fetlocks blowing in the wind?
I want to shower you with sugarlumps,
And ride you over fences...
Polish your hooves every single day,
And bring you to the horse dentist!

My lovely horse,
You're a pony no more...
Running around with a man on your back,
Like a train in the night,
Like a train in the night!

You must start it off with a copy of a bugle call at the beginning of a horse race.
