I am looking for Movies based on real stories ?

I want to add some best movies based on real stories in my list. I guess there might be plenty of them but Not much idea about it. Some of them that I have are:

Schindler's list
The last emperor
Chairrots on fire
Rise and fall of edi amin (VHS)
The great escape
Gandhi

I like all of them, if you have some good movies tp suggest based on real life story then please share it. we can keep on adding them here to make a big list for reference

The Straight Story. So so good.
JFK.
All The President's Men.
Lawrence of Arabia.
The Pianist

Those are just a few, but all 5 are top notch films.

Fargo is not based on a true story, it says it at the beginning but in the credits it states that this movie is fictitious.

This question is a bit broad. You might as well ask 'what are some movies with a love story' or 'name some films where someone dies'. Can you qualify this a bit more? Also, the "based on a true story" disclaimer amounts to very little. Most films based on real events take extensive creative license. There are exceptions, of course, but if you're after accuracy and truth you're probably better off seeking out some documentaries instead (just avoid anything by Michael Moore in your search).

I can't believe no one has mentioned

Alive

Check out the A&E miniseries about Ernest Shackelton, starring Kenneth Branagh. Another kick butt true adventure.

Sorry jarofclay73, Amadeus is not based on a true story, but rather on pure speculation. In the music realm Hillary and Jackie (though strays from the known facts) and 32 Short Films About Glenn Gould are entertaining.

edit: It probably takes some of the fun out of it, but you could also look here:http://us.imdb.com/List?tv=on&&keywo...-on-true-story
