I played the PS2 version. It was awful. It may be worth $5, but it is definitely not worth the time.

You are correct. XBOX and Gamecube owners have to wait until 4th quarter 2003. (http://www.gamers.com/game/1239828)

I think this is one of those "great idea poor implementation" things. The idea of have several types of gameplay seemlessly is an interesting one but didn't make it through.

They're actually insane enough to release this game on other platforms? :jawdrop:

Is this game really that bad? Reviews say it is a decent platformer, and for $5 it seems like a decent purchase. Would anyone like to elaborate as to why they have such a distaste for this game?

Normally when I take issue with an aspect of game design, I will elaborate, but Haven is just completely broken.
The main problem is that the game is not fun at all. Maybe I'm picky, but I don't like to feel like I'm just going through the motions. Almost every level had me wishing that it would end in the hopes that the next one would be better.
The story is completely forgettable, as evidenced by the fact that I don't remember it. You have to rescue someone and defeat someone else. Your character has a goatee, which is meant to signify attitude, but from what I recall you're just an obnoxious p****.
In any event, most game stories are awful, so that's forgiveable. But the engine is horribly lame. Running and jumping is floaty and imprecise. Don't believe the game's claim about large, seamless environments. The levels are small and boring, and driving and flying require a new level to load--nothing seamless about that.
It is crystal clear that early in development the game was pretty ambitious, but time and/or funding were cut. The game doesn't deliver on any of its promises, and feels really unfinished. I recall collecting one or two types of items that did nothing--clearly they were meant to, but their functions were cut from the overall design. And you get the distinct feeling that all of the game's little levels were meant to be integrated into one ambitious engine.
In summary, you won't miss your $5 if you buy this game, but you will be wasting your time playing it. If you believe, like I do, that time is as valuable a commodity as money, then this game is definitely not worth it.
