I just wanted some feedback... I have brought a few of these and sold them... and I just wanted to know if everyone else's GBA's have come with some charge on their battery right out of the box. That was my experience with 2 different units...
At first it made me wonder if someone from the store had openned my GBA to play with it before I bought it... but after the 2nd one I figured Nintendo was charging them before they shipped them out (at least with some juice in them). Just wanted the experience of other GBA owners...
Thanks

I played mine right out of the box as well, although the red light came on after about 2 or 3 hours.

I saw on G4's E3 coverage Nintendo was showcasing about 12 or so different colors for the GBA-SP. I was pretty mad about it, but oh well.. I want my black one!! (or pink)

At E3's Nintendo booth, there were two enclosed displays that each had 12 different colored GBA SPs on display. Somebody must have a pic of that...

I just wish I could find a GBA SP at a retail store near me. I don't really want to have to order one online.

Anybody else had the problem of dust getting in behind the screen on the SP's?
I hadn't had mine for more than a few days when I noticed a speck that I couldn't wipe away.
And I've been VERY careful with mine...
Oh, and JADAKISS, if you've got a Target nearby, check there. Mine seems to always be restocking their supply.

So does anyone know if we are going to get some of these colors? I think black is only available in europe. the target near me has quite a few blue or silver SP's but if more colors are coming soon, i'm gonna wait.

At work (Software Etc.), we now have release listings for an SP Onyx and SP Flame, so hopefully we will soon have a black an orange as well. I think the date listed was early fall.

Nice. I don't think I'd mind rebuying one and selling my current on eBay..

This is a side note: The SP I bought was after the initial release and I had to wait two weeks to get in. The finish on it seems to be holding up very well compared to that of my friends. I 'nm curious if Nintendo changed their manufactoring process between batches. Could explain the large delay.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Nintendo Co. Ltd. 7974.OS on Monday said the Game Boy Advance SP, the newest entry in its long-dominant Game Boy handheld line, has sold more than 1 million units since its late-March launch.
The $99 SP, designed in part to address problems with screen lighting that hurt its predecessor, the Game Boy Advance, has sold more than 1.1 million units, Nintendo said.
Nintendo also said it will release versions of the SP in two new colors, black and red, on Sept. 8. It is already available in silver and dark blue.
While Nintendo has dealt with a number of setbacks for its GameCube console, now mired in third place in the global console gaming market, the Game Boy has easily beaten back all competitors since the line was introduced in 1989.
Nintendo has faced little competition in the handheld market in recent years but will have to contend with two new entrants into the market later this year, a Palm OS-based device from a new company called Tapwave and a cell phone/game deck combination from Nokia NOK1V.HE
Nintendo will also have to contend in 2004 with the PSP, the first portable gaming device from Sony Corp. 6758.T , which overtook Nintendo in the market for game consoles in the mid-1990s with the launch of its first PlayStation.

Yup, can't complain.. GBA has consistantly kept me more entertained by any of the "new age" consoles have. In fact, I'll go play some Wario Ware right now.

Ahh, I wish I was young like you guys (I'm 42), because even though I have the GB Advance and some nice games, Zelda etc., I have rarely played them. I usually let my friends who are teens play with it! Ahh to be young again.
[rant] Why when I was growing up, we only had channels 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11 & 13 to watch, none of this satellite 500 channels crap (and still nothing to watch) [endrant] ;)

The GBA is the best selling "next-gen" system, and the GB in general is the most successful, longest-lasting system in history.

Hey, mrpayroll, I'm 42 and I keep my GBASP with me, giving it a good workout. Although it has largely taken over for the lack of console playing, but it's easy to keep along and fit in some game time. Finally pried WarioWare outta the cart slot, and have been checking out Sega Arcade and Sonic Pinball.

Yeah, I carry it with me all the time in my bag, but that's usually for the time when kidz are around and seem bored, so I let them play it. I guess I get more satisfaction out of them playing it, than in me playing it :)

rechargeable batteries keep better when they are fully charged, so it makes sense that nintendo charges them up before packaging them up. The battery will be in better shape with a charge and sitting on a store shelf for awhile instead of dead dry for long periods of time, that would ruin the battery.
