REQ: Black Hawk Down SE (3 disc) Review

Just wondering if anyone picked it up today and watched all three discs.

Let me know what you thought of it. The deleted scenes, the quality, the documentaries, etc... Thanks!

I checked those reviews out already. They're ****ing lame.

I was hoping for someone who watched the movie and read the book to provide some insight on the deleted scenes and which Army soldiers provided commentary as well as what author Mark Bowden thougtht of the book to movie transition.

I guess I should've explained more in my review request...

I've watched SOME of it and so far it's excellent. I watched most of disc 3, including the PBS documentary and the 3 Q&A sessions--all were good. The Q&As are only about 10 min. each which is just right. I've seen the History Channel doc. and LOVED it so I'll watch that again after I watch the movie. All in all a great set and I'm 100% glad I held off until the SE...

i have read the book and watched the movie, have not got as far as the deleted scenes yet.

But from memory the soldiers in the audio commentary were.

Col MCKNIGHT, Lee Van Arsdale, Eversmann, and one other..

THe commentary was the highlight *so far*

I don't know if its my setup or what but I detected very little activity in the surround speakers, even during the intense battle sequences.

I can't believe none of the 'major' dvd sites have reviewed this title yet. IMO, it's one of the biggest releases of the year. Perhaps Columbia chose not to send out many advanced copies for some reason?

Thank you! Sgt. Eversmann was one of the few that I hoped would be on the audio commentary. He came to my school last Oct as a speaker and I was very impressed with him. He also autographed my book copy of BHD.

Still looking for other reviews...don't be shy! I was deciding whether to buy it or rent it. However based on what's been said so far, I'm 95% that I'm going to buy it this weekend. Thanks again.

Are any (or all) of the special features on discs 2 and 3 anamorphic widescreen?
