I found this to be one of the most helpful reviews that I've read. I own the original version and was debating whether to get this version. Since I didn't notice any gaps that needed to be filled in the original, I was hesitant to buy the new version. After reading the review with specific examples of what was added, I think I'll just rent it or buy it later on at a lower price.

I'm not a big poster, I'm merely a lerker and have for the most part found the DVDtalk review section pretty reliable. But I must chime in stating this is a review I strongly disagree with. I just finished the movie and thought I'd look to see what it rated on here and to my amazement it only got 2 1/2 stars. To each his own I guess but I'd look at other reviews before passing on this edition.

I'd have to say as far as extended editions go I loved this one and Almost Famous Bootleg, they flew by. It hardly seamed like 4 hours, and parts didn't stick out and drag on. On the other hand I felt that Apocalypse Now - Redux sucked and could definitely see where the parts were added and the film suffered because of it. As for the extras this is a type of movie where the extras don't interest me whatsoever, so I would have gotten it as a one disc 4 hour Flipper.

my 2 cents.
