OK am I the only one that didn't like the cheezy ending? Loved the movie but the way the movie ended with the camera stopping on BANE on the lab table next to NEO and then a "To be continued" tag was just way too...um....TVish? to me. I mean c'mon we are talking about a blockbuster here...not an ending to a Xfiles show!
Better way to end it in my opinion is to do the dramatic pan away camera (ala Empire Strikes Back). Picture this....you still see Neo and Bane on the table but the the camera pans away...first through windows from the ship...then faster down all the pipe mazes (insert cool special effects)...then through the rocks and granite....(more cool special effects)...and then end the scene showing the machines digging frantically...fade out and THEN you can put the whole to be continue line...heck you wouldn't even have to put that line it. Everyone should know by then.
Anyway what are your thoughts? How would you end this movie.

The purpose of a cliffhanger is to leave you wanting more, there was never supposed to be any closure to this movie that is why it is called a cliffhanger.

i think his point is you can do a cliffhanger and not just stop it and say to be concluded...............a little exit video effect could have made a world of difference

Yes...that is my point exactly. In fact don't you think a better cliffhanger would have been to see the machines burrowing into the earth getting ever closer to ZION? This would have been a double whammy...er...cliff hanger x 2. Seeing NEO and Bane in a coma together....GASP!....and then seeing the machines inch closer...double GASP! Now thats a cliff hanger!!! Would have been a great way to end this movie on a more dramatic scale.
Oh yeah...also would have helped avoid the confusion by some people thinking that ZION was destroyed...how they missed that anyways is crazy but at least it would have set it straight.

Well did you stay to see the Revolutions teaser? A lot of what your taling about is presented in that teaser.

Yes...sure did....however about 2/3 of the audience didn't. I don't consider a trailer to be part of a movie....anyways by then the "gasp/cliff hanger" effect is over.

After 20 mins of credits ;) I had already almost forgotten the whole movie and what I was waiting for.
Seriously, the ending was terrible. I was waiting for someone to go "Dun-Dun-Duhhhh" to signal something bad is going to happen. Srod's conclusions sounds a lot cooler. Maybe they just ran out of money by the time they got to the ending .

Yeah, I agree that a bunch of over-the-top CGI would be a lot less cheesy than the current ending.

The issues those 2 characters (Smith and Neo, not Bane and Neo) will deal with will most likely be the main thrust of the next movie, not the fight for Zion. That makes their ending more appropriate.
Or not, I don't know....but I will in half a year.

LOL...you know I think that the ending did have that "Dun-Dun-Duhhhh" sound. OMG talk about total cheeze!
We all know the Wachowski brother can do better. I mean is there any other ending to a movie then the first? What more can you ask for with Rage Against the Machine jamming a superhero type song and with all the people in the Matrix walking by in slow motion and NEO just looking into the camera and flying off. DAMN COOL!
Anyhow to each his own. Some people liked the ending and other didn't.....just think they could've done better with it.

Sounds like the exact closing shot to "Two Towers."

That's what I was thinking.
This movie is supposed to be a bridge to the conclusion so a cliffhanger works just fine.
