Greatest Summer movie Year
I've been going to summer movies since this started back in 1978, when the big summer movies that year was Jaws 2, and Grease. Since then I have always looked at the list of upcoming movies for the summer as this year.
But this year seems to have a must see movie every week.
The other years I was excited about summer movies was 1980, 1983 and 1987.
Anybody else have favorite Summer Blockbuster years?

I have to admit this year is shaping up to be great for blockbusters:
Daredevil
X2
Matrix: Reloaded
The Hulk
T3 - get this one over with so King Conan can start!
Matrix: Revolutions
Master and Commander
LXG
LOTR: Return of the King
not a bad list at all. :]
Hope they don't dissapoint. So far, so good!

like LBPound said, not all classics, but fondly remembered favorites (some of these i have a low opinion of now, and some were technically spring or late summer releases, but i tend to fold all of them into my memories of that years summer, )
1978 Jaws 2, Foul Play, Grease, the re-release of Star Wars
1979 Alien, the re-release of the Exorcist, the re-release of Jaws, Prophecy, StarCrash, The Amityville Horror, Dracula, Dawn Of The Dead, The re-release of Star Wars (with the ESB trailer this time!), The In-Laws, Love At First Bite, Golden Girl
1981 Superman 2, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Wolfen, Body Heat, Excalibur, American Werewolf in London, Stripes
kids today, though, are going to have an awful lot of good stuff to look back on when they get older and wax nostalgic
i'm still looking forward to
Pirates, LXG, The Hulk , Tomb Raider, T3.
not all will be future classics, but they could end up being suprisingly entertaining.

This year is shaping out to be one hell of a year.
2002 had 24 films to reach $100 million (7 of those reaching $200 million, 3 reaching $300 million, and 1 reaching $400 million).
2003 has 6 films reaching $100 million (with only 1 so far to make over $200 million), and it's not even June yet. At this time in 2002, only 4 films had made it over $100 million.
I predict the following films will make over $100 million:
- Finding Nemo (will make over $200 million)
- 2 Fast 2 Furious
- The Hulk (will make over $200 million)
- Charlie's Angels 2: Full Throttle
- Legally Blonde 2 (sadly)
- Terminator 3 (might make over $200 million)
- Bad Boys II
- American Wedding
- The Matrix: Revolutions
- Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
- Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat
- The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
I'm sure there will be tons of others, but those are guaranteed to make over $100 million. And look, barely an original idea in the entire bunch.
