How many shines?
How many shines do I need before I can get into the volcanoe in SMS? Noki Bay keeps shining, bu the gate to the volcanoe is still shut - I already have 80 shines.

At least 50.
The key is you have to do the "chase and catch the little guy" shine in every world and clean off the big star in the village on top of the gate to get it to open up, if I remember correctly.

Yeah, my bad on that, evil mario, not ill piantissmo. I had forgot about that guy and it didn't register that that wasn't evil mario's name until sdcrym posted. It's been a while since I've played SMS.

Thats one of the levels where you don't have the waterpack right? I think i remember having a tough time on that one too. Which section are you having trouble on? The key for me was learning how do the wall kick move right. I can't remember the specifics of the level but there's a one-up mushroom close to beginning so you can keep trying until you make it. Its tough, but do-able.
