Who Else Loved the first Episode of "Hard Knocks" on HBO?
I'm starting this thread in case some people missed the first episode. I wasn't going to watch it because I'm not a Ravens fan and I thought it would be just like "Inside the NFL". Boy, was I wrong. I thought the show was GREAT! It was very interesting and entertaining. You just gotta love Shannon Sharpe! He is the funniest guy in the NFL. The scenes with Tony Saragusa were priceless : "You've got a really beautiful wife; I wouldn't bring her around here if I were you". I really began caring about those rookie long shots as well.
Episode 2 airs tomorrow (Wed) at 11 PM EDT. It should be really good as the players find out about Cory Stringer's death. I wonder how it will affect everyone.
HBO has another winner on its hands here. It's weird that I watch so much HBO, but never watch a theatrical film on the channel. It's almost like watching a whole night of MTV and not seeing any music programs......

I am very interested in this week's episode as well. I think Billick is going to really feel the pain given that he was the offensive coordinator with the Vikings when Stringer first started out. It's amazing how many former Viking players/coaches are out there in the NFL.
This show and MTV's Tough Enough are two of the greatest reality shows out there. Tough Enough is severely underrated but it should be MTV's proudest moment in years.

I'm sorry, what is "Tough Enough"? I hardly ever watch MTV and have not heard of this show.
I wonder how many episodes of Hard Knocks there will be; training camp only lasts like three or four weeks; this show has potential to run much longer. I know it won't happen, but I'd love it if they followed the team all season.

No HBO "Hard Knocks" this summer
I guess this fits in both TV and Sports, but.....

I'm disappointed. It was fun to watch the inner workings of both the Ravens and the Cowboys. It made me pay closer attention to these two teams during the season, because I actually knew the players a bit better.
HBO's "Hard Knocks," a reality series which brought viewers into the NFL training camps of the Baltimore Ravens and the Dallas Cowboys the past two seasons, will not return this summer for a third season. An HBO spokesman confirmed the news last week saying the network could not find a "perfect fit" for another installment.
Various insiders believe that it simply came down to the fact the teams HBO was interested in following declined to be part of the show. The pay channel said it would try again in 2004 to revive the series, a joint production of HBO and NFL Films.

It's a shame. However, considering how miserable the seasons were for the Ravens and Cowboys after being featured, I can't really blame them.
The team I would have like to seen featured : The Broncos. First Shanahan is a genius and I'd like to see how he works. Second, I'd love to see how Jake Plummer will adapt to the new pressures of a huge contract and big expectations.
My second choice would have been the Bengles. I was in Cincy last week and there's real excitement over coach Lewis and his new philosophy. Also, who doesn't like a QB controversy?

Fair enough, but it was a disappointing season, especially in the first half. They were supposed to run away with the AFC central title in 2001, especially adding Elvis Grbac at QB, instead they were left in the dust by the Steelers, leading to the team's dismantling in the following off season. Not the worst season for a defending Superbowl champ, by any means, but I think Brian Billick would certainly admit to being disappointed that year.

Keep in mind that they did lose Jamal Lewis in training camp.
