Aussie actors do better American Characters than American Actors.

Notable Aussie actors off the top of my head:

Gia Carides...Nikki...My Big at Greek Wedding/Life
Louis Mandylor...Nick Portokalos...My Big at Greek Wedding/Life
Toni Collette ...Lynn Sear...The Sixth Sense
Rachel Griffiths ...Brenda Chenowith...Six Feet Under

Any more??

Russell Crowe is from New Zealand.

Eric Bana (Black Hawk Down and The Hulk)

If you want to see Toni Collette and Rachel Griffiths in the same film, rent Muriel's Wedding. They aren't Americans in that, though, so I guess it's off-topic for this thread.

I think that was his point.

None of you have mentioned HUGH JACKMAN?

Cate Blanchett in practically anything. She can did a capable accent in The Gift, fooled anyone who actually saw Pushing Tin...

Nicole Kidman may have been born in Hawaii... but come on... we can give it to her. (Mind OUT of gutter...)

Simon Baker's pretty good on TV's The Guardian, and was brilliant as a James Dean wannabe in LA Confidential -alongside Pearce and NZ's Crowe, no less!

ANTHONY LAPAGLIA. He's more mobster than the mobsters.

The absolutely beautiful Melissa George, who's been in a number of small roles but stole Dark City away from any character in the same room. (Fellow "Home & Away" alum Matt Doran also was one of the more interesting crew members on The Matrix's Nebuchednezzar - Mouse).

Heath Ledger in Monster's Ball.

And, of course... ERROL FLYNN.

I was tempted to say Geoff Rush, but he does a terrible american accent, actually...

EDITED TO ADD: Who was the best thing about The Ring and Mulholland Drive... sweet Naomi Watts, of course.

I didn't even know he was an Aussie until I saw Lantana.

And his brother Jonathan Lapaglia, who's a major hottie and starred in Seven Days, the 2-season time-travel SciFi show on UPN... I hear he's on The District now, but that's one of those retrograde CBS shows you couldn't pay me to watch...

Don't forget that in X-Men, Hugh Jackman isn't playing an American, Wolverine is Canadian.

Yeah, I think she would be considered a Brit. Born there and lived there until moving to Australia at age 14, so you can't really say she grew up in Australia either. I had thought she was an Aussie, but I guess not.
