I haven't been able to convince the wife to let me get a TiVo, but I found out my local cable company will has a service for $6.00 a month. Here is the link to the site http://cfl.mybrighthouse.com/services/pvr/index.shtml . For those of you who have TiVo how does this compare?

It doesn't say anything about season passes in there. In principal, looks very similar to the Tivo/ReplayTV setup.

The PVR they're using is a Scientific Atlanta model. I can tell that from the remote and the few screenshots of the action on that page.
By all accounts I've read, that PVR sucks royally. It's little more than a digital cable box with a hard drive and some automatic recording timers. It probably has PIP capabilities and can record one show while watching another, but that's about it.
And I know that the Scientific Atlanta menus and guide and so forth suck, as I have a SA Explorer 2000 digital cable box in my living room. It's slow and crappy. Upgraded models are still slow and crappy. Which is why I use a Tivo to control the cable box.
