enough with the Big Fat Greek references in Movie Ads!!!!!
ok....so i've seen not so subtle references such as "a new big fat comedy" etc for three movies in the last couple of weeks and I want to friggin scream. The worst was for the In-Laws or whatever that's called (albert brooks and Michael douglas)....."This years Big Fat Greek" crap fest!!!!!!!!! ugh.....ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw the use of the Big Fat stuff in that preview for the MIchael Douglas movie. I mean...half thre preview is Big Fat stuff. Is the movie so lame that the best way to sell it is by using another movie's name? Really dumb in my opinion since they have nothing but genre to do with one another.

Also annoying is the "It's [popular movie X] meets [unrelated popular movie Y]!" scheme.
Then there's "It's [older popular movie Z] for the [insert current decade or century]!" IIRC The Fifth Element had an ad billing it as "Star Wars for the nineties!"
C'mon, everybody knows that nothing is worthy of being called "The New Star Wars".........not even TPM or AOTC.

Yeah! I remember David Spade on SNL's "Hollywood Minute" bashed some movie - I *think* it was a Stallone flick - by saying something like, "Cliffhanger: This movie will do for mountain climbing what Over the Top did for arm wrestling."

I thought "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" was a fantastic film, one of the better romance/comedies out there, I don't know why people hate it so much, maybe the only reason they hate it is because Joey Fatone is in it.
I think "The In Laws" look like a good film, but I want to see "It Runs In the Family" the most though.
Michael Douglas is one of my favorite actors.

If the best Warner Bros. can do is use the Big Fat Greek font to promote its new In-Laws movie, then they are in serious trouble. All of the previews I've seen have looked terribly unfunny with way too many over the top, goofy action scenes. Not surprisingly, it's running at 33% on Rotten Tomatoes.

I remember one trailer in particular with the line:
"It'll do to Eddy Murphy's career what
Battlefield Earth did to Travolta."
Very clever.

Daddy Day Care "The 3 most dreaded words to see on a marcee since Over The Top"
"And you thought Pluto Nash was a winner!"
The Inlaws"The only thing Big Fat Greek about this movie is the one who had to do it "greek"style to get this P.O.S made!"

I mean if people actually go to see this movie simply because another hit movie was referenced in the ads (even though there's no real connection between the two), it is sad. At least when they say something like "from the producer of movie X" or " from the creative team behind movie Y" there is at least a connection, even though often times the big name people are not the connection.

No what I love is when they tag a movie "From the makers of [popular movie]" and the only "maker" that worked on both films was like the 3rd assistant gaffer.
They did that with Rollerball - "From the makers of The Fast and the Furious" and it turned out to be a few of the producers, something that didn't have much to do with the sucess of the latter. And

I like how every scary or thriller movie now is "even scarier or more chilling than The Ring!!!"
At least it gave the movie admakers something to replace "more chilling than the Sixth Sense" with
