I think Castlevania could be damn cool, a visual masterpiece ... but it would be incredibly difficult to differentiate it from the rest of the genre.

I have to say none. As much as I love games, the stories are just too limited to make a decent movie out of IMO. Plus they've yet to show that there willing to do more than make a half assed effort a game adaptations, making matters even worse.

I think Zelda would be neat to see on the big screen, but I can't imagine how they'd do it and make it good. Same with Metroid.
Legacy of Kain(the original, haven't played the others) has a good story line to it though, and might make a pretty good movie. I still have that game on my computer, I think it's got the best script and voice acting of any game I've played. I fire up the opening movie every now and then.
And I agree that GTA wouldn't be much of a stretch into a pretty good car chase/action film, but I don't see what would seperate it from Gone in 60 Seconds or the Transporter or any of dozens of others car chase/action movies.

Just about any RPG could make for a great movie or series...maybe still too hard to achieve for a reasonable budget though.

Baldur's Gate
Ultima

If Grand Theft Auto was done right it would make an excellent film.
Also, Metal Gear Solid. Its pretty much a movie the way it is now, why not make it live action?

I think Castlevanis or Legacy of Kain would be interesting as movies.

I'll disagree with those saying GTA would make a great movie. Truth is, GTA is a great game because a lot of it is 'borrowed' from a few different movies. Going the opposite way would create a redundant film with a heavily borrowed feel and been there done that action.
My vote: Duke Nukem. Why? Why not? There were rumors of it in the past, I'd like to see Duke save the strippers in live action big screen fun.

I am not sure who would be the best to play the Square Block in Tetris, but damn I can see a potential blockbusters if the script is right ('Damnit, rotate and fall to your left idiot!').

The only half way ok video game movie that wasnt complete trash was mortal kombat, they shouldnt make any more adaptations, just come up with some new ideas.
But if someone makes a decent video game movie, like spider man, then the video game movies will be whored out too.

I have to disagree. I think that a lot of times the stories are way to in depth to make a decent movie. And some studios have made a conscious effort in making a video game movie ie Final Fantasy.
One of the inherit problems with video game translations are the video games are still not "mainstream" so you either alienate loyal fans or make for a very small target audience. It seems like they try to stradle the fence and the studios crotch (read bank account) pays the price. A good example is resident evil. I thought it was a decent movie, but it had nothing to do with the game either in story or feel, and it really didn't have much to draw nonfans into the theatres. But at least it was low budget so they didn't lose too much, i think.
I would love to see well done versions of a lot of games.
Zelda
Metroid
Perfect Dark
Final Fantasy
Castlevania
Eternal Darkness
Goldeneye.......wait a minute...

Medal of Honor
Though, some of the game is very similar to some of the concepts in Saving Private Ryan. I think Medal of Honor could focus more on just an individual - like Special Ops.

Anyway, I'd have to say The Legend of Zelda. Oh, and they are making a Dead or Alive movie. And Driver, Spy Hunter, Resident Evil 2, House of the Dead, etc.

I think GTA could be made into a movie, but not as a strictly action/adventure. I think there could be more of a psychological edge to it. The idea I thought of came from the GTA3 video game, which is presenting the main character as anti-hero and then turning him against the audience, like how GTA3 ended with the main character shooting the girl he just saved.

Thinking about it, did anyone mention the Myst series? That could be a decent adaptation.
