Got my new TV and noticed when watching widescreen movies, the black bar tend to bend slightly on top where the center part of the bar is slightly lower making it look like a semi-Ushaped. And if you watch a TV show with words written on top, you can see that the words are tilted on both side going down toward the center so using the tilt adjustment won't do. Since this is a closeout in Best Buy they're not getting any new ones. Should I have it check by a technician? Only concern is if the Tech is not that good, he might make it worst. Could this be done using a service menu?

Try watching movies in the dark, with draped pulled or at night. Movie theaters are home theaters for they both show really good view movies. Your telling me aout the black bar is telling me you have lights on.

When a movie theater dims the lights to get your attention to starting movie, they do not turn the lights back on after the movie starts, infact they only turn the lights on *after* the end of the show during credits. Reason for no lights is that every time a person would get up, it would be a distraction from the movie.

Same thing for Home Theater if you turn your lights off, you would be immediatly caught up in the movie. You would *not* see *any* black bars, or any other distractions at all, that is why it's called Home Theater.

Your 'mimicing' for "modus operandi" latin for "method of operation" of the pay for a ticket Movie Theater.:)

P.S. Why not try for a few movies

I would have a tech look at it while it's still under warranty. It sounds like the choke might need to be adjusted.

A number of people have had that same problem on the AF's, including myself. For my 20 inch, accessing the service menu was enough, but on the 27 inch it wasn't. With the 27" I was able to improve the picture but not get it "perfect". I had to take it in to tweak it more.
