I had heard that T2 Extreme was encoded with WMV9 and not MPEG2. Is this correct? I don't know of any standalone DVD players that support WMV9 yet.

To see it in all its glory on your TV/RPTV/projector, a home theater computer. To see it on your computer monitor, a regular computer with WMP9 will suffice.

Isn't just one of the several included versions of the movie on the discs in WMV9?

You are most likely right. I've been lightly skimming through avsforum and somehow got the idea that it was an exclusive WMV9 release. I blame it on my "Overwhelmed Newbie Syndrome." :) I guess that wouldn't make too much business sense.
