the west wing 4/30

yet again another pretty good show but not for the big things but the little ones...

--the return of the hot speechwriting interns!

--charlie's english lesson in toby's office. "what the hell kind of sentence is that?"

--donna and her adventures with her feathered friend.

--hoynes taking the dignified way out instead of trying to defend himself. he knew he scewed up and was willing to accept the consequences.

--the look on josh's face when they went to see hoynes. great acting by brad whitford.

i know some will say that matthew perry was just a plug but i thought that he did a pretty good job. i wouldn't mind seeing him come back every so often or on a semi regular basis once friends ends next year.

oh yeah, i forgot stu winkle

I really didn't like Matthew Perry on the show last week, but he seemed like he really "fit" on the show. I'd agree that him showing up on occasion would not be a bad thing at all.

Matthew Perry wasn't really given much to do last week, I think the episode was structured to leave you feeling unsure of the Perry character. But seeing him in action throughout this week was really impressive, it was amazing, you never saw any "Chandler-isms".

I think he'd make a great recurring character.

Speech writing interns rock....nice to see them being promoted and demoted at Will leisure.

This was a very good episode - best one in a long time. Probably because there was nothing about Kumar in this episode.

I guess Tim Matheson must be getting a regular role in a new series next season. I suppose they'll get Fitz to be VP.

As for next week's episode, I can only .

I'm just hoping that next week's episode is actually good, but those asshats at NBC are using their typical "Insult Our Audience" style of promotion. It's May, ya know ... time for NBC to make fools of television fans everywhere for 28 days.

Oh, and great episode.

Sorkin + shrooms = MUST SEE TV

Sorry, Sorkin can have all the mushrooms he wants, if he puts out more episodes like that. Im worried about next week's but this was an awesome episode.

Good episode ... I do wonder who they'll tap for the VP position. Didn't they bring up possibilites in an earlier episode? I can't remember if it was this season or last.

One question though, why were Will and the interns working on a commercial? We had thunderstorm warnings that preempted part of the episode.

As I said before, Fitz.

They were working on a counter-ad in response to a Republican commercial on SUVs.

I'm amazed how Sorkin can write so much great dialogue week after week???

He and David E Kelly are the best writers in primetime IMO

I think this show will be great on dvd..Sometimes I find myself missing stuff cause those actors are spitting out words like fastballs

just read over on E! that sorkin and schlamme WILL NOT be back after this season. no reason was given.

http://www.eonline.com/News/firstlook.html?eol.tkr

STEPPING DOWN: West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin and director Thomas Schlamme announcing they won't return to NBC's drama after this season, the show's fourth season. No reason given.
better yet, this should probably have it's own thread....

As for this week: yeah, it's been a long time since I actually liked Matthew Perry.

He's always had a way with smart dialog, but his "snarky" persona got old 5 years ago... It was terrific to see what a good fit he is with Sorkin dialog... and great to see that I could still buy him in sincere mode...

Or course, now it looks like Sorkin dialog will be a thing of the past, so what do I care?

Matthew Perry
Speechwriting interns (Lauren, Lauren, and Lauren)
"Towing an SUV full of Saudis"

I'm frightened to think of WW without Sorkin... I don't want to think about what it will be.
