Any ETA on new DVD recorders?

Does anyone know when more DVD recorders will be hitting the market so the cost starts coming down? I also read somewhere that Phillips will be coming out with a Magnavox basic DVD+R/RW format (MDVR630R) that records 8 hours with no electronic program guide (If you have satellite or Digital cable it's not nessasary anyway)- Does anyone have any info?

I know there are a number of manufacturers with new low cost models coming out in the near future. Apex even has 2 coming out, 1 with a HD and one without. Their first recorder was due out Q1 of this year, so it looks like they missed it. I would say lower cost machines will definitely be out by the end of summer, winter Holiday shopping season at the latest.

Best Buy had the new Philips model on the shelf last night for $599, but someone was buying the last one when I approached. I didn't catch the model number, but it was much smaller than the DVDR985.

I do believe you don't know too many facts, here is one of them the first DVD recorder sold for $16,325 from Pioneer.
How low do you want them before buying, that's the question ony you can answer. IMHO right around when they introduce a blu-ray DVD recorder, the red laser recorder will cost practically nothing.

The Home Theater crowd will be interested in the HD-DVD from the blue violet laser, not the limited red laser that the last responder, gave a price of $595. Happy Hunting, I hope you get it; at your right price.

If you have a computer you can get an internal one for under $200.
