Dreamcast gun issues
I recently picked up a used Dreamcast at EB. Things seemed to be great but now I've run into a bit of a problem.
Picked of a used US release of Houses of the Dead 2 and a used Pelican light gun. Light gun could control all of the Start button functions and such but the gun itself didn't work. Pulling the trigger makes the screen flash white but no bullets are registered as depleted and nothing notes being hit.
Returned the Pelican, picked up an InterAct, same problem. I get the white flash but no actual firing.
I'm playing this on a 12-year-old 25" RCA TV, so I don't think the TV is an issue. Moving to the 20" Samsungs I have elicits the same lack of response.
Have I just picked up a couple of dud guns, or is there something else happening here?
Could this be console based?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You just had the bad luck of buying two bad guns. I bought a used Mad Catz gun for my DC and it had the exact same problem as yours do, after exchanging it for another, it works fine. I would say exchange it once again.

Did you calibrate it using the game? I have the Interract ones. You have to get up really close and hold the guns really still when calibrating them for the games.

Calibrating light guns on the Dreamcast is a PITA. It took me quite a few tries before I got my guns calibrated good enough to play House of the Dead 2 and Virtua Cop 2. From running searches, this is a quite a common problem with US Dreamcasts.

His problem isnt a calibration problem. The gun just doesnt work. I spent a long time trying to calibrate that Mad Catz and the screen just blinked, no matter how close or far I held the gun to the TV.

Yeah, get the Madcatz lightguns. I have a pelican and 2 madcatz, and the madcatz are way better. You can shoot a lot more ammo in a lot less time. I think you just got 2 bad guns. Try to exchange it again.
