Are all HKL disks really the best editions??
I'm looking at buying Once Upon a Time in China Trilogy but was unable to find a comparison between the R1 release and the HKL release..
Anyone who has many of these disks able to comment on which R1 releases are better (I care most about image quality and sound, and it being uncut, extras are secondary)? Most are no brainers like Story of Ricky and The Killer..

OUATIC is one of those no brainers. The R1 sucks. I haven't seen the HKL, but I've read enough reviews to believe that it couldn't possibly be worse, if not an excellent disc by any standards.

the UK hkl discs are very good. anamorphic widescreen. excelent.
BUT ouatic 3 is CUT. there are 2 sec cut where a horse fall

the dvds from the killer and story of ricky are also good (i thing its the best you can get from that movies)

battle kreek brawl (only 2 sec - a hit on a ear)
eastern condors (a snake is killed)
snake in the eagles shadow (fight beetween snake and cat)
ichi the killer (many minutes cut)
body weapon (many minutes cut)
lucky stars (one dialog and the car stealing scene)
and last but not least a shopping tip for story of ricky HKL
