daredevil dvd review at dvdfile.com

This is really early. I have never seen a dvd reviewed this early. They say it's a good dvd though.

Well the features sound pretty damn definitive as is. Which makes me think the DC may even be barebones! There's an hour-long doc on the comics and another hour-long doc on the making of the movie!

Man, this must be some record for an early DVD review, a full 2+months ahead of schedule, i love DVDfile but this makes the wait unbearable.

This must be some real kick ass dvd, since when I saw this in theaters (lowes valley centre 9 in owings mills, a crap place), there was lots of distortion in the sound, and the only surround I heard was the songs.

So what do they do now, produce the DVD at the same time as the movie?

Fox really started the practice of developing the DVD before the film is even completed, let alone a success. I remember the trade papers speculating about their methods when Fox announced the 2-disc Planet Of The Apes - while it was in theaters.

This is the earliest review I've ever seen. It's 3 1/2 months before the release date.

Personally, I don't get the idea of publishing a review so early.
What's the point exactly? Bragging rights?

He received the final DVD with the press release.
What do you want him to do? Not review it?
They didn't give him the disc to hang on the wall.

The real question is, if it is in the can and ready to go, why not push the release date up a month?

Did I say that? No.
Seems to me that the idea of review discs (at least from a studio perspective) is to generate an upswing in sales when the title hits the streets.

A review two+plus months early seems a bit premature, if you ask me.

Yes, but that isn't the ONLY reason. Especially for an online review, there are plenty of people who will read the review, see it's a great disc, and click over for a preorder. Lots of people order titles before they "hit the streets".

I personally didn't like this movie at all (and have no interest in the DVD), but if I hadn't seen the film... this would have instantly made my preorder list, based on the positive DVD review.

We don't work for the studios, thank you very much. Review sites are there to inform their readers, not to influence sales figures.

That's a bit naive, Josh. While many reviewers may not consider themselves as marketing tools for the studios, I assure that is exactly how the PR departments look at them.

How is it naive when you might not even get a favorable review? Just because they get a "free" copy to review, does that mean that their review is bought and paid for? Sure sounds like you're saying that it is.

No, that's not what Robert's suggesting at all. PR departments distribute screeners to drum up publicity. Why else would studios mail out screeners to reviewers?
