According to Amazon.com, it's October 7. I've seen that date bandied about elsewhere, but nothing official.

Great! That's... ummm not too far away...

I thought by far that this is the best TV show to arrive since the Sopranos and season 2 in particular was incredible. Especially with the slow dying death of the fast dying '24'... God, the daughter...

I wonder if the special features will rival the first release or exceed them?

This may be "slightly" TV Talk related, but does anyone know if Season two will be released BEFORE Season 3 begins airing? I would prefer watching it on DVD (like season 1) but want to see it before Season 3 starts. If it isn't released before the new season I'll have to catch one of the marathons.

It should be. Season 2 didn't start until mid-January of this year, IIRC, so I'd imagine Season 3 will have a similar time frame.

Do you think that there will be a price drop in the Season 1 DVDs when Season 2 comes out?

Season 1 is selling for ~ $40.

I read the other day that fx hasn't decided if there will be a season 3 yet.

If that's true, then I may just pick up these two season sets. But I can't believe that F/X would cancel a hugely successful show with a award winning lead actor.

Here is the source:

"The Shield's season finale left several plot lines hanging. FX hasn't said yet whether it will pick the show up for a third season, but based on its performance, the prospects look good. "

Most definitely. Season one started in March and came out on DVD in January. Season two started in January and will be released in October on DVD. So, expect season three at around January-March. Hopefully that was understandable.

I thought it was announced as 10/7/2003. Don't know the specs, but I would guess it would have most of the same features (minus the audition videos). Media play has it listed on that day. It's also on the Coming Soon tab at the top of this page.

I'm watching the first season now. just finished Episode 5. Man, this series is awesome!

Of course, we finally got FX from our beloved cable providor, but not until season two was over.

I'm hoping they'll repeat the series this summer.
