Help removing PS2 parental control

Ok, I'm quite a bit over 18 (and 21 for that matter) yet I am continually forced to enter a password to play rater R movies when I want to play them on my PS2 set up. Anyone know what setting I can put in to turn that "feature" off forever?

Thanks in advance.

in the control panel, go to "custom setup" and then "parental control."

Scrolll down and set parental control level to "off."

If a password is required and you have forgotten it, enter "7444"

To save changes, be sure to eject the dvd before pressing the reset or main power switch.

Caught.

Nah, I've had it stuck on there for like 2 years, or however long ago they came out. And I use my regular player as a rule, but sometimes I'm too lazy to switch over.

Thanks, took me a little while, but I found where the setting was hiding!

I think it's in the menu that can be accessed when you start up the PS2 without a disc in the drive.

To get to the setup:

insert dvd-->let ps2 go into dvd playback-->press select on controller.

now you have 3 rows of items-->look at the middle row-->choose the icon that kinda looks like a briefcase (two items to the left of the question mark). that will bring up the setup menu. The parental control is in the submenu "custom setup."

was hoping someone could help me out.

ive also had the problem of the 'parental control' popping up when i put in a DVD. dont know the password so i tried 7444, but it didnt work.

other factors: i bought this PS2 used (since my other does not play online games) so i do NOT know the original password. also, im an american living in japan, so its a japanese model.

any help would b greatly appreciated. thx (-_-)

k i searched other forums about this topic, and ive found the solution.

TO CHANGE THE PASSWORD FOR THE PARENTAL CONTROL, follow the above advice but also do this:

when u come to the screen where it asks u to input the 4-digit number,
PRESS SELECT, THEN ENTER 7444.

this is a tiny detail, but also a HUGE one that most ppl forget. without pressing SELECT before entering the reset code, it will not work.

hope this helps others out. (btw it worked for my Japanese PS2 as well).
