Get the Aussie or German DVD! Don't restrict yourself to region one... restrictions! Fight the power!

Exactly what I was gonna say! The Australian version was one of the first DVDs I ordered after I got my Malata region free player, and I could care less if a widescreen version comes out in America ever. Region free is the way to go!!!!

I held off on going region free for such a long time, but I had to break it. There are things I'm never going to get in Region 1 because of stupid licensing reasons or dumb ass studios censoring stuff. What broke me finally was wanting to see Trigger Happy TV again. It came to comedy central a little bit later with cuts and missing the trademarked music! I knew I had made the right choice then and there.

GO FOR IT!

It was the best move I made with DVD, so much is available in other regions!

Another vote here for the region free player. I have the CyberHome CH-500 model and it plays everything flawless. R4 Widescreen Happy is the way to go.

If it means that much to you, another method is to cover the top and bottom of your TV with black poster-board, since the DVD is open matte.
