For some reason I don't have Top Gun yet, so this will be a nice addition to the collection.

The movie was shot in Super35 and played theatrically at 2.35:1. For the THX laserdisc, Tony Scott asked that the mattes be opened to 2.0:1. That laserdisc master was then ported over for the original DVD.

Whether Tony Scott still likes that ratio or will go back to 2.35:1 remains to be seen.

Sweet. DTS is a must for this awesome film. Watched it so many times on my VHS copy, I think it's wearing out.

Yes, I pray for a DTS track. Just imagine the sound in the scene on the flight deck when the engines of the F-14 go full-throttle just before take-off.... oooooooh baby.

"Hey Goose you big stud take me home now or loose me forever, show me the way home honey" Meg Ryan and Anthony Edwards pre "Pet Sematary". Also stars Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer , Kelly McGillis, Tom Skeritt, Micheal Ironside etc.

Watch for aircraft carrier captain he sure went up in 'rank' since he was cast as "Baldy" in the DVD movie "Wolfen" his role was that of a undertaker. Michael Ironsides is from "Scanners", Tom Skerrit "Up In Smoke" (strawberry) and Alien.

Kelly McGillis "Witness" played a almish widow that had the hots for Harrison Ford. Val Kilmer well we all know Val the iceman, Doc Holliday, Jim Morrison. I have had the LBX disc for about 2 or 3 years.

I stll don't understand why people look at DVD sites like that as the "truth." Until there is an OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT from the studio, it's just rumor.

I'll take this with a grain of salt. But I DO hope that Paramount will re-release Top Gun ala the Jack Ryan series. DTS alone would be sweet. I also know that there ARE "making-of" footage from 1986. I saw a half-hour or hour special on the making of Top Gun on Showtime back in 1986. So, I know it exists. Would be nice to have a retrospective doc with Cruise, Anthony Edwards, Val Kilmer, Meg Ryan and Kelly McGillis. Did you know Tim Robbins was "Merlin?" Lots of great DVD potential. But as long as it's barebones as it is now, I won't be getting it.

I'd buy SEs of Top Gun, Days of Thunder, and M:I 1.

I'd even pay CRITERION PRICES for it.

Heck, I'd even pay LASERDISC prices for a Top Gun SE.

Paramount, there's money to be made! Release the hounds!

As I wrote in an earlier thread - Paramound, you big stud, release an SE or lose me forever...

-- Jough, rehashing the same corny plays on a movie line since 1986...

I'm sure there will be a SE issue, the studio's know that they'll make lots of $$$$ over it.

I'd take issue with Days of Thunder before Mission: Impossible.
