DiNizio Starting a New Music Program
Tue Apr 8, 8:43 AM ET
SCOTCH PLAINS, N.J. - Pat DiNizio of The Smithereens has a new plan for getting his music out: subscribers. DiNizio is launching a program called Patrons and Artists Together. Up to 100 fans can pay $1,200 for a whole lot of DiNizio. He'll perform a concert in your living room and give you a DVD of it within an hour after it's over. He'll perform another concert in your town for a charity of your choice. He'll give you a new CD of original material every four months, plus 50 copies to give to your friends.
DiNizio says he knows he won't get rich off his plan and will probably lose money, but he'll still be able to get his music out there for a willing audience. He says it's the same idea of Renaissance painters or Shakespeare having patrons to fund their art, just with a contemporary twist.
