Where the hell are the floating heads?

;)

Just wait until two or three months when the official poster is released....

That teaser poster is awesome (which all teaser posters usually are) but I can definitely wait for the actors poster.

i am both terribly excited and very leery of this movie....i just don't know what to expect......Wayne's version was damn good for its time, and i'm real curious as to how they treat the story.....and especially :hscratch: about the choice of Jason Patric as Jim Bowie - that I just don't see. Dennis Quaid as Sam Houston is also aquestionable choice imho, but strangely, I can totally see Billy Bob as Davy Crockett. Of course, i'm always glad to see Wes Studi - I love that guy....

Being a native San Antonian, this better kick ass! Who here has been to the Alamo? It's a tiny building; my apartment is much bigger. Amazing, what happened there.

Go Spurs!

I was hoping this was going to be about the restoration of the 1960 John Wayne version. Is there any news on that?

I just checked out the cast over at IMDB at didn't see him listed. Who does he play?

I wonder how well this movie will play outside the States. I understand the Alamo is a very important historical event for you Americans, but let's face it, most Europeans don't have a clue about what went down there (my knowledge of the event is limited to the fact that it had something to do with Mexicans and that John Wayne won :)).

But who am I kidding? Hollywood can market pretty much anything (except Terry Gilliam movies), and everybody likes siege films.

Judging by past performances, I'd guess "The Indian".

I guess Graham Greene was busy.

Also, consider this from the IMDb:People in Baghdad have been spending their evenings watching Hollywood action movies as their city is being pounded by American bombs and artillery, according to an article appearing in Rupert Murdoch's Australian newspapers. News Limited papers reported today (Tuesday) that a favorite is the Mel Gibson movie The Patriot, in which Gibson plays a revolutionary war figure who reluctantly takes up arms against the British. One video dealer remarked, "During an evening of air strikes, provided there's electricity, customers want to wind down and be taken in by a story in which the good triumph over the evil, like us against the Americans."

That's so twisted. Maybe films like Reefer Madness will become tolerable if we just try to substitute counter-culturalists in place of the moral authorities of that film.

I can't begin to imagine how huge this movie will be in Texas. As for the other 49, hard to say.

I would be more excited if Ron Howard and Russell Crowe were still attached...

As for the other 49, hard to say. it may be big for awhile, but if it takes some "liberties" or just plain stinks, then it may drop quickly. we texans take the alamo very seriously and don't want anyone screwing around with it. the previous one had the duke so that made up for other things. he may have died but john wayne didn't lose. ;) he's the duke!!

I tried so hard to be a part of this film. I drove down to Austin on the second week of extra auditions and never heard back. I kept calling and they kept saying, "Maybe we'll need you later." Later never came. I've been an extra in one short film and I want to do more now.

Cool poster. But they missed out on a perfect opputunity. The tagline shoulda been "You must Remember this..." or even better:

THIS SUMMER, REMEMBER....

THE ALAMO

He plays Chief Bowl....a leader of the Texas Cherokee and a friend/ally of Sam Houston. Ironically, Chief Bowl was killed by the early incarnation of the Texas Rangers in 1839, and Edward Burleson had his scalp sent to Houston .....Houston was none too pleased with the turnaround and the campaign against the Indians in Texas during the short-lived "Republic."

If the movie is as sweet as that poster it's going to be awesome.

I was just there visiting last week. I was amazed how tiny it was ... I was expecting a monolith and ended up with an 18' tall facade. At lease the surrounding area was nice.

I've been there. I hope it is better than the IMAX movie, or that 3D show or whatever else you Texan try to suck the money out of our wallets ;) (hmm....where am I from?)

As far as historical accuracy, the details of the Alamo is more of a legend then anything else so it will be difficult for everyone to be pleased.

BTW has anyone taken a picture of the Alamo with a ghost in it? I tried but to no avail :)

I'll be interested to see this, but I have a feeling most Texans will have a very critical eye on this film.

I grew up near San Antonio, so I've heard the story and visited the Alamo many times. Everytime I see the Alamo, it makes me very proud to be a Texan.

Also, Billy Bob as Crockett? That should be interesting.

Yea!!!! I finally got called to be an extra in this movie. I go next week to train and if I make the cut, start filming on May 19th. Hopefully, I'll be in a scene where you can see my face.

Are you a fat mexican? http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=265189&highlight=mexican+casting
A hitch has developed in the production of The Alamo in Austin, TX, where the film company has had difficulty finding 6,000 Hispanics to fit into uniforms to play the Mexican soldiers who attacked the old Spanish mission in 1836, syndicated columnist Liz Smith reported today (Monday). She observed that the men "must look as if they had just been force-marched from Mexico city to San Antonio in rain and hard conditions." But a casting coordinator told Smith that a lot of the men who have shown up for work "are simply huge." So far, Smith says, only about 500 Hispanics have been cast to play Santa Ana's men.

Yeah, I know about the casting problems. That's why I thought I would have been called sooner. I weigh a fit looking 150. I'm on the Atkins plan. I'll be able to fit in the costume.

I had grandparents living in Texas in the 70's and they took us to San Antonio to visit the Alamo. I was SHOCKED how small it was.

Both the John Wayne Alamo movie and Disney Davy Crockett movie made it look at least 3 or 4 times bigger than it actually was.

How they ever held off Santa Ana's army as long as they did is just amazing.

Im a San Antonian and I cant wait for this film. I just wish they had gotten Viggo Morteson as Jim Bowie, he totally looked the part.

Last time I went to the Alamo was twice when I was a kid. Ive been dying to go back since than. I recall going and just feeling the magic and the amazement at what the Texans went through. The movie is going to be brillaint
