I have to agree with the 2k3 line. Be on the look out for both the football games b/c they have been marked down to under $20(ebgames.com has them both for that price now). If I remember correctly, both were $9/ea last week at TRU. I do consider NCAA 2k3 the weaker of the two but the ability to import your seniors into NFL is nice and the whole college atmosphere/BCS factor makes it interesting. I played NBA 2k3 and liked it and if NHL 2k3 is as good as I've heard, then it's a good buy(I cant find anywhere to rent it and cant afford to buy it yet).

My favorites are NCAA 2003(EA), High Heat 2004, and NHL 2k3(Sega). All are excellent. Some other games I like that are more arcadish or different are NHL Hitz 2003, Soccer Slam, and Deathrow.

While it's not a typical sports game, I would highly recommend getting Sega Soccer Slam. It's only $9.99 at EB.

NHL Hitz 2003 is fun with friends.

NHL 2K3 is average in my opinion. Once again, it's LIVE, which is good, but not the best hockey game in the world.

NFL2K3 is good since it's online, i think i like Madden 2003/NCAA2003 a bit more, but i play 2K3 more now since XBOXLive went in effect.

Haven't played basketball or baseball yet either...sorry

BTW: I do have Madden 2003 & NCAA 2003 up for trade or make an offer to sell.

Best Xbox sports games:
For Basketball, NBA 2K3 by Sega

For Football, NFL 2K3 by Sega

For Baseball, World Series Baseball 2K3 by Sega

There really is no room for debate on the above. They are the best BY FAR in their category for Xbox. NBA 2K3 and WSB 2K3 have the added bonus of 720p.

I'd have to say Outlaw Golf. I'm pretty sure it's selling for $20 now. I played that game so much last summer and would recommend it to anyone who likes golf. It's as good of a golf game as you can find.

This is what I'd say:

Football: NFL 2k3, NCAA 2003 (don't get sega's ncaa 2k3)

Basketball : 2k3 or Inside Drive (suprisingly good gameplay), or NCAA bball 2k3

Hockey: No contest, NHL 2k3. BEST HOCKEY GAME EVER. Doesn't have the best graphics or sound, but the on the ice action is fantastic. Kicks the crap out of EA's game (this coming from a guy who bought every EA NHL game from 92 to 2002).

Golf: Tiger Woods 2003

Baseball: WSB 2k3

Those would be my selections.

I would agree that WSB 2k3 is the best baseball game out there.

I bet you'll like the college football games, rent both the sega and the EA version to see which one you prefer.

There's a Twikoff sighting outta the sports forum.
If you want Football-I say chill until June/July when the '04 lineup
start coming in with updated Rosters and Tweaked Blah,Blahs.
Of course they'll be regular priced at 49.99 and the '03 lineup should be bargain basement prices by then if not yet...
But what sportsnut wouldn't want to be updated right?

I agree, I prefer Madden 2003 over NFL2K3. I rented both for a week and played them both. I ended up getting Madden 2003. NFL2K3 was much better than NFL Fever though.

NBA 2K3...I believe you can get this for like $30.00 new now. Its a great game, though playing online can be annoying when your opponent shoots nothing but 3's.

WSB2K3 is a great game, but I am having more fun with EASports MVP Baseball 2003 right now.

Outlaw Golf is a fun game too, but I lost interest very fast.

Inside Drive is the best I play it every day. Sometimes 3 times a day.

I have NBA2k3 also and I think the graphics just look horrible and the camera sucks. I loved it on dreamcast but I think it looks horrible on xbox.
NFL2k3 is awsome tho.

I picked up both Sega Sports NBA 2K3 and Deathrow after reading rave reviews about them. After playing them for a while, I realized my cousin's NBA Live 2003 more suited my "freestyle" style of play and Deathrow was essentially a violent hockey game. I sold both games and picked up Live 2003 and NHL 2002 (used.) Live 2003 has a quicker pace but not in the arcadey-sense. I think it's more realistic than 2K3. 2K3 plays like old 60's and 70's basketball footage..where everybody's jogging into their positions and slowly executing plays. Live is fast-paced with lots of dashing and cutting.

Deathrow played like a simple hockey game with repetitive fighting. Sure the fighting is fun but if you beat up on each other everybody becomes injured and very slow, and then it gets boring. I'd rather play NHL2002 with better graphics and sound without the slow pace of Deathrow. Multiplayer in NHL2002 is also better than the split screen Deathrow.

To each his own. To each his own...
