Italian golden age horror, any recommendations?
Kinda getting into the 50's/60's Italian horror movies, have the following:
PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES
BLACK SABBATH
BLACK SUNDAY
CASTLE OF BLOOD
can anybody offer me some more choices? Any additional Bava would be appreciated.

i'm not sure how contemporary you want to get...but fulci and argento films are great...opera and suspiria are beautiful and opera is my 2nd fav. horror film of all time. But they are his 80's stuff. He started in the 60's though.

Blood and Black Lace by Mario Bava looks like a slasher flick directed by Fellini (Juliet of the Spirits period). The bizarre lighting and art direction are excellent, but I understand the initial DVD issue of it has many glitches.

Too bad you missed the Gene Siskel Film Center's two-month-long Mario Bava retrospective (ran in January and February). They had 10 or so of his movies! I only caught Kill, Baby . . . Kill (1966), but it was pretty damned good. So I'd just go for as much Bava as possible.
