April 1 threads being locked?!! :(

C'mon guys, it's ONE DAY a year. We're well-behaved the other 364

Of course, I'm citing this http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=282921

Is there any explanation for the lock besides the fact that it's in honor of today's holiday? (Maybe it's the typo in the title I couldn't fix )

If you'll notice I DID put "april fools" at the end of the opening post. Geesh.

I never saw any notices regarding a ban on April Fools fun, so I thought it would be OK. I guess I was wrong.

They didn't ban fun, all you've got to do is bring the funny.

April Fools Threads?

Maybe we should at least have a

"The One and Only April Fool Thread"

--- of course, that sort of defeats the purpose since everyone will immediately get it.

Unless we only tell the truth in it.

er... never mind.

Yet the April Fool thread about Seinfeld being on DVD is in DVD Talk alive and well for hours now.

If any area is appropriate for a joke, it should be Other, not DVD Talk. I don't see any rhyme or reason here.

There once was a poster from Other
Who said that his boss was his lover;
We've heard this before,
it's become quite the bore -
So we told him to go #$@& his mother!

We're treating April Fool threads the same as last year-- closing them down. Can't speak for the thread in DVD Talk since I'm not a moderator there.

That was a lame April Fool joke anyway. The funny ones are the ones that have at least a hint of believability to them. Like the Civic threads...

That's fine. I totally understand the policy and can agree with it, as long as it's enforced forum-wide. Seeing the Seinfeld one going strong ticked me off.

Maybe that's an April Fool's trick on you?

I closed the Seinfeld thread, if it makes you feel any better.

Can't we have a wee bit of fun?

Here's a link to an attempted joke I tried.

Agreed (that's one I didn't close).

"OMG STAR WARS RELEASE UPDATE!!!!!!!!111...

4/1 Fools, lollers!"

It wasn't funny last year, either.
