And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead "The Secret of Elena's Tomb"

the new EP by Trail of Dead came out March 25 and it has
5 tracks

i've been liking what i've been hearing but i've only listened to it twice. there's even a decent slow song on there.

anyone else heard it or going to see them play with Guided By Voices?

It's pretty good. The electro-pop tune is the best cut on there -- reminds me of what the new Adult. record is trying to do; a nice combo of hooks and noise, which is always alright by me. The two rockers are kinda dull -- standard issue stuff -- and the two power ballads are a bit silly but nice. One sounds a lot like Source Tags & Codes' title cut, which is great, obviously.

I just picked this up today. I like "Intelligence" a lot. The rest also sounds good. I'll have to give a few more listens before I can really judge how much I like it.

If they are playing with GBV on the DC date, then yes, I will. Otherwise it is just them.

I really wish I was going to this show. Local H is also playing the Black Cat the next night. The Foo Fighters are playing the Patriot Center. QOTSA are playing the Towson Center. I'm going to miss all these shows. It sucks being unemployed and not having any money.

You've summed up everything I was going to say about this EP. I enjoy it, but not nearly as much as "Source Tags and Codes." I guess I didn't expect much because most EPs don't showcase a band's best material. Ditching the acoustic tune and adding another one similar to track 5 would have been nice.

I picked it up at Best Buy for $6.99. They actually had quite a few copies.
