Dumb and Dumberer trailer (btw, it looks very bad)

Nobody from the original is in this one and the movie looks kind of stupid. That is too bad since the original is a classic and this prequel might make the original much worse. (there is footage from the movie, just go down to trailer)

How could this possibly make the original worse? I don't understand that reasoning. If you liked the first one, which I did, nothing should really affect that.

Looks pretty bad. The actors do look surprisingly like younger versions of the original actors.

Well, it does look a lot better than I was afraid it would. That said, there really isn't anything LOL funny in the trailer. They did do a good job casting, looks and sound-wise. Don't know if they'll have the ability to really pull off the characters though.

You know all those movies with terrible sequel's (rocky, jaws, exorcist), it sort of makes the originals not as good sort of once we get to a franchise.

Actually, I think it would make the original look even better. With that said, this movie looks like poop.

This looks utterly stupid.

Obviously the genius who green lit this doesn't realize that the reason the original was so big was mainly because of Jim Carrey.

It looks alright to me. Nothing particularly bad or good about it.

This logic doesn't really make sense to me. People always say the same thing when movies are re-made. How does a sequel or remake affect the original? The movie is the same, so therefore it can still be viewed, enjoyed and cherished on its own merits. And your examples are pretty weak. I don't think any of those three films are "worse" because they have sequels.

But having a great movie with forgettable sequels tarnishes the first films legacy, just because the terrible sequels exist. So in that aspect, I agree.

I think I may, like I did with Blues Brothers 2000, avoid seeing this film for the fact that it tarnishes the legacy of the fantastic original solely for the purpose of cashing in on the name (with few or NONE of the original contributors involved). What's next? Animal House 2? Caddyshack 2? Oh, nevermind.

This does look like a longshot as far as being worthy of being in the same class as the original. I do think that the person playing Lloyd had matching mannerisms as Jim did in the original. The original was flipping hysterical to me, and I thought that Jim and Jeff were great together. I laughed so hard at so many parts. Dumb and Dumber was funny to me because they were new characters. When you make a sequel, especially using totally different actors to play the same people, you lose the originality and have to depend soley on the script... just my opinion.

Sequels, prequels, remakes, etc. have no effect on my opinion of the original film.

The original film is the same, I just ingore the crappy new movies. Or in this case, won't see it period.

That's just utterly idiotic IMHO. Superman IV was trash, but it doesn't affect my appreciation of Superman I and II in the least. Ditto with everything else you cited. If your opinions of something are so mutable that a lame sequel can change your view of the original, you need to think harder about why that is. It just doesn't make any sense at all to me to think that way.

Im hoping it's rated R.
I hate it when I sit through a really bad movie and never see any boobies. Boobies make everything better.

Although I'd rather see a sequel this looks promising. They did great casting anyway.

Not only are the people in front of the camera different, but so are the people behind it (No Farrelly Brothers in the credits).

The jacket made me laugh more than anything. But mine was navy blue. And the sleeves zipped off.

Wait a minute. We can't forget about Jeff Daniels. It was the interaction between the two that made the movie so funny. IMO, it would have been a completely different movie without Mr. Daniels, but I get your point about using different actors in the prequel.
