Xenosaga (PS2) or Ghost Recon (XB/Live).. which to buy? heh...
Two totally different game genres, two games I really want.
Can only afford one, and even then buying Xenosaga will be pushing it (GR is $39.99 for the weekend, Xeno is still $49.99)
In the mood for a good RPG, which I haven't played for a while (Suikoden 3 has made me have a distaste for RPGs lately, but this morning I woke up and was suddenly in the "I need to play a game heavy on atmosphere and story." mood), plus it's supposidly pretty long and looks like a good deal of entertainment.
Also in the mood for something good on Xbox Live, and I really liked the Ghost Recon demo on the Exhibition disc. That said, I'm not a big fan of actually talking on the communicator so ... yeah, either that'll cause a problem or I'll learn how to talk - that said, Ghost Recon seems like it'd have a good replay value on XB Live. And I love tactical shooter/slower FPS games...especially those heavy on atmosphere (which oddly enough, Ghost Recon proved to be, especially in 5.1)...
So, uh, yeah, which do you think would be the better buy for now?

GR is $39.99
FYI i picked up GR at launch for $37 shipped on eBay in factory packaging. they appear to be going for $30ish now.
If you are on a tight budget it maybe advantageous to look on eBay for certain games.

whaaaaat? Not like Suikoden 3?! nonesense!
Xenosaga definitely fills your category of heavy atmosphere and heavy story and mood...maybe even more than that . Its not as fast paced as most games because of that, but I really enjoyed it!

Ghost Recon all the way It's the only game I play on xbox live but then again, I only have the xbox.
we definitely should get a dvdtalk GR night.
As for talking on ghost recon...you do not need talk much but it definitely helps when you and your teammates talk. And with GR, the mic is not always "hot"...you need to press and hold the white button on your controller when you want to talk.

Both are excellent, but both are really different games. My problem is Xenosaga is that there is too much time watching it and not playing. Granted the story is good, but I get bored easily.
I wouldn't count out Dark Cloud 2 or .Hack either.
If you have a GameCube, ignore those RPG's and go straight to Zelda. Do not pass Go, do not collect 200 dollars.
