Did you see that? (cameos in films)

I was just watching From Hell, and I was floored when the Elephant Man crossed in front of the camera. It totally took me by surprise.

I was wondering if anyone else had ever seen cameos that surprised them?

Marty Scorsese in "Gangs of New York" was nice. Spielberg in "Vanilla Sky."

Spoiler:
Brad Pitt and Matt Damon
in one of the game show scenes in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind was a really funny use of a cameo.

Scorcese in "...New York" kind of took me out of the movie, so I guess I prefer cameos like that when they are used for comedy, or if things are really surreal anyway (like Francis Ford Coppola in Apocalypse Now--that was a little jarring but the whole scene was so surreal anyway it didn't really bother me).

My favorite is Danny Glover's scene in Maverick as the bank robber.

For me the funniest scene is Shirley MacLaine in Defending your life.

I don't know if it counts as a cameo since it was before he was famous.

But literally until yesterday afternoon, after watching about 15 minutes of it on HBO, I had absolutely no clue [/b]Ben Afleck[/b] was in Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

The Bob Hope cameo in the Chevy Chase/Dan Ackroyd picture Spies Are Us. I thought that was great.
