Anyone else really like Glengarry Glen Ross like I did?
I bought the movie and got around to watching it today and this is one of the best acted movies that I have seen in a long time. We have a young Kevin Spacey, and Jack Lemmon in the performance of his career. I never hear or see this movie get alot of respect around here or anywhere, so I recommened everyone at least rent this great movie.

Somebody mentioned this film in a thread trying to establish the most universally praised flicks at DVDTalk; I think the thread was called "Top 5 most respected movies at the forum" or something, but I'm too lazy to do a search and link it. 
Anyhoo, in that thread I said something like "When I first saw it (I was pretty young), I didn't understand the acclaim. However, I have now come to believe that this movie produced many of the lines used in the Al Pacino Crank Calls: 'You just cost me 6,000 dollars.' 'Where were you last night?' 'F*** you!'"
Of course, that last one could have been lifted from any number of Pacino's movies.
Slightly more on-topic, isn't there a semi-famous scene with Alec Baldwin where he tries to motivate the office?

Powerful film.
I fear that when people read the synopsis they will stray away because it sounds like a boring film. I read the back of the case to my mother and she said that sounds stupid.
But what you get out of it after the viewing is breathtaking (and I don't say this about a lot of films).
Jack Lemmon, in this film, is at his best. He was even better than Al Pacino (and this whole cast was stellar as it gets.)

Great movie! You can't imagine a better cast - all chewing the scenery together.

I love this movie and finally watched the DVD this past weekend. Awesome cast, great dialogue, great movie. Baldwin's scene was just great... I've always loved Ed Harris (who I think is underrated) so it's always nice to see him shine. I really don't understand why this movie doesn't get more props from the general public. Granted, if you just read a plot summery that said: "it's a movie about salesmen" that could be a turnoff but the cast alone should send people to the rental counter. I'll shift through the DVD extras next week but I did watch the tribute to Lemmon which was touching.

I don't think I've ever seen another movie where every actor totally aces his performance like was done in GGR. Even Pacino didn't ham it up too much.
The dialog is excellent. The line that cracks me up each time is, "You call yourself a salesman, you son-of-a-bitch?"

Was gonna get it as a blind buy based on the threads that came out around the time the DVD was released, but the price tag kept me away. I rented it recently and watched it 3 times! Loved it!!

I'm in the homebuilding business, so I'm biased out of the gate, but I"m afraid Manet has NO idea how selling Real Estate works.
Regardless, it was pointless, had no direction, and was nothing more than a re-hashed DEATH OF A SALESMAN.
Very dissapointed in. (final note: The film makers of BOILER ROOM should be sued for everything they have).

I loved this film. The film itself would have been subpar if done with mediocre actors. Only the acting in this film is incredible! Ed Harris, Al Pacino, Lemmon and Spacey are wonderful. Next to scarface, I think this is Pacino's best performance...some of it even reminded me of tony montana (believe it or not)...I'm not sure why Charlie Goose thinks that Pacino isn't a good actor, but you should definitely check out this film!
I was also going to point out that the makers Boiler Room definitely viewed this film and used Glenross a great deal. The characters seemed very similar and Affleck's speech in Boiler Room was extremely similar to Baldwin's in Glenross...
I think one of the reasons for it's poor success is the title...my thoughts anyway

I finally broke down and bought this as part of Best Buy's 2 for 15 deal, and I"m absolutely floored by the power of this movie. It's way better than I remembered it to be, and for me, I can't imagine a movie with more replay value. I could watch this all day long. I won't rehash the quotes, too many to get into, but besides the regulars, how great are even Arkin and Pryce in this. Just brillant. And I haven't seen as much Lemmon as I should have, but I find it hard to believe he was EVER better than he was here. And with the release, it's an unreal buy for $7.50

Excellent flick.
I watched it again after the classic documentary "Salesman" which I received for Christmas. It's done by the guys that made "Grey Gardens" and "Gimme Shelter", all Criterion discs. The Maysles brothers, Albert and David are the responsible parties.
