Action Replay Gamecube Questions?

How does the Action Replay for Gamecube work?

I am interested in AR for the Metroid unlock code in Metroid Prime.

Does any vendor rent AR’s? If they do could I just rent it and unlock Metroid or is it needed every time I want to play?

Also, are there any good deals for AR out there?

Thanks in advance.

Target sells them for $30. Not too bad of a deal if you will use it a lot. If you just need it to unlock Metroid its probably not worth it.

It works by putting the AR disc in with the special dongle in memory card slot 2. When it boots up you choose your cheat from a menu and then it tells you to swap to the game disc.

BTW, with a code like unlocking Metroid you would only have to do it once and it will stay unlocked. Something like infinite health is a situation where you need the AR everytime.

Its the official Datel site. Looks like Datel just released a keyboard for Phantasy Star Online for only $20. Better than $100 for the import.

Can the special dongle in memory card slot 2 be used as a memory card?

Does anybody know of a place that rents these things?

Hmm. The NES games in Animal Crossing also interest me. Do you need the AR every time you want to play an NES game in Animal Crossing?

What NES games come with AC?

Thanks

Its a one time unlock for the Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros, Ice Climbers, Warios Woods, and Punchout. 5 very difficult if not impossible, in the case of the first 3, NES games to get. Once they are in your inventory you don't need to use the AR again. Its only for those games though. You've got to get the other 13 or so on your own though they aren't that hard to get in most cases.

Just an FYI.
I was able to play the Metroid 1 game with the AR. It was almost worth it for that alone.
I forgot about Animal Crossing, I may have to pick that one up.

I was a little disappointed that the vaunted "hover" code for Mario Sunshine wasn't included.

Was this also a one time unlock?

Can't you add new codes?
