Shaolin Soccer? Worth getting? Avail now?

Just saw the trailer for Shaolin Soccer for the US Theatrical release this summer, and was absolutely blown away! I've heard this movie mentioned several times in forums.

Is it available now on DVD (non-R1)? And where is a good place to order R2 or R3 Asian DVDs online?

I haven't been this excited about a movie trailer since I first saw the trailer for CTHD and ordered the R3 DVD off ebay.

dddhouse.com is a very reliable HK based etailer that lots of people here at DVDTalk use on a regular basis.
They have had Shaolin Soccer available on a Region 0 DVD (it will play on ANY non-Pal DVD player) for over a year now, at a very low cost -under $10.00!

It's great!

I looked at DDDHouse, and I really like the prices. (asian porn for $2.56US!!) But I'm not too comfortable ordering from them. The site appears to be incomplete in vital areas (shipping info, shipping costs, contact info, etc).

I posted in the store forum, but I'll ask here. Any comments and thoughts about dddhouse? I've trusted this forum in the past (been very happy with deepdiscountdvd), so I trust the group opinion.

Several Orders - no problems

I've not ordered in a while, but DDDHouse is one of the recommended sources for Asian DVDs.

Check the International Forum.

This question should've been asked in International Movie and DVD forum. That's what it's there for. Anyway - the movie is great... the US cut is supposedly not. I refuse to see it on the grounds of some of the cuts made and other changes. More of a boycott really. You want to see it, then get either the HK DVD or the Korean 2-disc DVD. The HK version is region 0 and NTSC so it will play on any DVD player and tv set in the US. It has DTS sound and removable english subs. You can find it at DDDHouse, DVDShelf, HKFlix, Pokerindustries, DVDAsian, etc etc... DDDHouse or DVDShelf would be the cheapest places. You can also get the Korean 2-disc which is also region free and NTSC for a little more money at several of those places as well.

I've ordered half a dozen times from DDDhouse, and have been more than pleased with their service.

Miramax, and it's parent company Disney, have been stomping down on domestic importers of asian films they own the rights to. So it's either a foreign store like DDDhouse, or Ebay.

I'd go with DDDhouse.

In order to make this thread more Movie Forum friendly, I'll ask: Is the trailer online anywhere (or does the film at least have a website?)

Here's the Miramax site:
http://www.miramax.com/shaolin_soccer/

That site lists the trailer as "coming soon," but there's a spoilerific one available here:
Don't watch this one! Most fans think that trailer is awful though.

Edit:I forgot how bad that english trailer really was. There is a much better english trailer available here:
http://www.asiandb.com/browse/movie_...322&mode=stuff
Although it still spoils a really funny shot at the end, so stop watching around 1:15

I prefer the japanese trailer:

Direct download:

http://www.shorin-soccer.com/movies/yk_m.mov - meduim
http://www.shorin-soccer.com/movies/yk_l.mov - large
Nothing is translated, but you don't really need it.

The original Hong Kong trailer is available on Realvideo here:

I've bought the VCD version.

It's enjoyable. Sort of like a Rocky movie but with soccer and kung fu. Funny too at parts.

What are the supposed US cuts? I hope the movie does well either way.

A list of the cuts Miramax made for the film is here:
Miramax Cuts - SPOILERS

Note that it's is for the French release, the US version is English dubbed. Otherwise, all the cuts are the same.
