Component direct to TV? or Component to receiver to TV?
Any suggestions?
*Edit*
What brand of cable? I know, Monster, but very $$$.

I really don't see the need to run Component cables through the receiver unless you are out of inputs on your TV. Running directly from DVD to TV means less cables & less chance of degradation.

I run the component for my 2 dvd players through the receiver, and my xbox is hooked directly to the TV component, because the Denon 3803 has only 2 component inputs...I get no degradation at all, so I'd say it has to do with the receiver and video processor. Also, I use Dayton cables from partsexpress.com which are the same if not better as monster and 1/4 the price...

I used to run them through my rcvr, after I ran out of room on my TV.
Plus if you have a GF, Wife, Kids etc it is a lot easier for the rcvr to switch the video and sound for you than having to write up an insrruction grid.
But I now go directly to my TV.
However if you have a long run from your TV to your equip (I have 6ft) It may be better to use your rcvr to do the switching. Therfore you only need 1 6ft component cable, 1 S-vid, 1 etc...
Then you can buy shorter 3ft cables for everything else.
I like to shop at accesories4less . com
They have a nice 6ft AR component cables for under $30 I think

Good point CPA-ESQ. Just to avoid the hassle I just might go this route.

Any additional route a signal takes increases the chance to degrade it.
Usually the reason to run video to the receiver is because you will use the receiver for switching.
IMHO my first choice would be to go straight to the TV with the video source unless you need switching.

Of course, any decent macro-capable remote will handle all the switching needs with one button for any component. Still probably cheaper than the extra cables, and the W/GAF is high....

Only problem with running your component components (HA) through your receiver is, you cant hav different setting for different components (for example, my video settings for DVD are MUCH different than my video settings for video games...)
