Looking for a new player, and have 2 options thus far. Sony DVP-NC615/B or Panasonic DVDCV52. Both are about the same price, and both are BLACK.
Progressive Scan is not an issue for the application. I already have a Sony heading on 2 years with no problems, and the only reason I am looking for another is additional formats supported by above players especially WMA and WP3. Current model is pretty much DVD/CD and not a lot more.
Changer is a major plus, like to load multiple seasons for long term viewing pleasure. Wanted one with ZOOM feature but none seem to have it unless I go to JVC or amazingly enough a couple of the APEX models I saw.
The Panny does 20x Scan in 5 steps, not sure about the Sony, which only seems to state "smooth scan" without a speed, current model only does 2x, faster scan would be a plus too since I like to FF through movies really quick to check for suitability of movie for children's viewing. (Checking for too much nudity!) I can do it on my computer but on TV would be better.
The converter on the Panny also appears to have a higher bit-rate which I'm guessing would be a plus and part of the reason for all the positive posts about their line of players.
You guy's were great with help on my speakers and receiver so once again, looking for some advice or direction on this purchase.
