The Terminator: Special Edition

Since T2 was out of stock at Columbia House I decided to go buy T2 at a store, and then decided to use my raincheck at CH to get Terminator: Special Edition. I've seen T2 tons of times but haven't yet seen Terminator 1. This is a blind buy but it looks to be loaded with extras as well as anamorphic transfer and DD 5.1. What are you guys thoughts on this movie/disc? I'm pretty excited to get it in the mail and watch it for the first time. How does it compare to Terminator 2?

I like it better! Again, just my opinion.

We reviewed THE TERMINATOR and TOTAL RECALL back-to-back when they streeted. TERMINATOR is a classic piece of sci-fi and I found the 5.1 remix much less offensive than many did. It might be James Cameron's most cohesive film; anyway, here's the link to our coverage -

I liked it a lot. A much darker, grittier film than T2 with very good effects for such a low budget film. It's definately a must-see if you like T2. Not to mention there are a few jokes in the second film that make more sense after you've seen the first.

The disk has some great extra's. The 'making of' documentaries in particular are some of the best I've seen.

I know there was a very low budget, but the stop motion cyborg always looked more cheesy to me, but hey its still a great flick with

if thats your thing. With the exception of a little over doing, the 5.1 remix sounds fine. (but I prefer the gun shots in the mono soundtrack.)

I too like Terminator over T2. Great DVD, IMO.

Its a great movie. The storyline is a lot better than T2. However in terms of specal effects, T2 rocks. Another thing to note is that the first movie sets up the scene for the second and upcoming third movie.
