Selling game items (from Everquest) for real money
In my surfing around everquest sites, I notice there seem to be a few that offer to sell platinum pieces for real money. I understood this was illegal and/or at least frowned on my Sony. Is this the case? I remember when Sony got Ebay to take off all auctions of EQ gear etc - so thought this would be included. Maybe I'm wrong... any info appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, it's against the user agreement and they can/will terminate your account if your caught.
However, many people do sell items, money, accounts all the time (I've sold a few items myself when I quite 8 months ago).

You cant get busted unless they know what your account name is,as long as you dont say what your in character name is your koo,playerauctions.com does this sort of thing daily and have sold 100s of items/accounts without a problem.

Yeah but you have to log in with a char to do the transfer. All VI has to do is buy an item and when you go to transfer it to the user, they know the account.
I'm not saying they care that much to do that, but it's as easy as that.
So no, you're not automatically "koo".

If I returned to EQ (which I won't at this time due to the fact that it's too annoying and long to play), I would buy 1000-5000 platinums to get the equipment needed to easily reach level 30 or so since all content now is basically 35-65.
my brother sold his account , he had a stripped out level 54 enchanter (best potter on his server) with only no drop gear remaining and no money for 200$ US or so. Had he kept his 100k platinums and gear (near 150-200k's worth of droppable stuff), he could have probably gotten around 400-500$ for it.

Interesting - I imagine if they really were going to crack down on this sort of thing they would. Though I haven't really heard of anyone getting terminated for it.

I see it this way, people pay for the game so if others take advantage of it to make a buck, why does Sony care, they already make 12.95$ times 430,000 each month, some new games even promote selling items/caracters for real money.
Rubies of Eventide
Rubies of Eventide is a 3d online role-playing game. Some of the game features include turn-based strategic combat, 7 player races with 90 professions, the ability to sell or transfer your character to other players and crafting. Currently in Open Beta, the game is set for commercial release in April.
Incidently, this game looks great, but I don't have it.

I've never played Everquest, but I didn't know that frowned upon the sale of game items.
A friend of mine has been playing UO for 61 months and has many customers that buy his swords, armor, gold and even houses on ebay.
He said it's a good partime job.
I remember him showing me one guys ebay auction where he got $1500 for a castle on UO.
