Friends is about to get their "Lando"

From IMDb:
Aisha Tyler, whom Variety called "a breakthrough talent headed for an impact on comedy," and whom Playboy profiled under the heading "Woman on the Verge," has joined the cast of Friends. Tyler, a 32-year-old black comedienne, hosted E! Network's Talk Soup until it was canceled last year. News reports indicated that her character is being written into the show because of persistent complaints from TV critics and the black community that Friends rarely features actors who are not white, despite the fact that it is set in New York, which is renowned for its racially diverse population.
Dante: What's happening Lando?
Lando: Not much Dante.

She is going to stick out like a sore thumb. Not because she is black but because she is 6 feet tall.

yawn. i'm all for racial equality and such, but to be forced to add characters to a show b/c of it is disgusting. Why aren't white people in an uproar that there aren't any whites on "black" shows. Once again, shows the double standard in society.

Great comedienne, hope it's her big break

It doesn't make a difference to me what race or color the guest star on Friends is, but I am extremely happy that Aisha is going to be on the series.

I was really disappointed when Talk Soup was cancelled since she brought a real jolt of energy to the show. Not only is she funny, but I think she's extremely attractive -- I think the latter is the main requirement to be cast on Friends.

However hot she is, she still can't top the sexiest guest on series -- Paget Brewster !

Hold on, doesn't that kinda throw the "equality"(read: 3 guys, 3 girls) thing on the show?

So who's gonna get her first... Joey or Ross?

I guess she really is a 5th Wheel!

I never found Aisha Tyler to be funny in the slightest. Seems like a hack to me.

IMO, this is further proof of the show's imminent demise quality wise. to me, the show has not been very good this year at all and the fact that they are adding a new character just to satisfy special interest groups' griping and complaining is absolutely ludicruous. would i be correct in assuming that she will be signed for a certain number of episodes? one of the things that i have always enjoyed about friends is that the cast has always stayed the same. over the years, there may have been special guest stars, but the main cast has always stayed the same.

Maybe it'll be Phoebe or Rachel.

That way they could toss some gay stuff into the mix and make a whole lot of men (including Joey and Chandler) very happy.

So does this actress know that this show will only have one more season, which isn't even a whole season at that.

Me thinks NBC is giving those NAACP naggers (that's with an A people) what they want for the time being. After Friends is gone they will open their big mouths again.

Go watch Scrubs. There's two black people on that show or just check out UPN.

I am so sick and tired of this crap.

But I do feel sorry for her because she will be known as the Black friend.

I don't think she's going to be a regular or supposed to be the 7th "Friend". I think she's just another recurring character, like Paul Rudd was recently. I'm going by this:
Ex-'Fifth Wheel' Host Aisha Tyler Makes 'Friends'

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Former "Talk Soup" and "The Fifth Wheel" host Aisha Tyler has been tapped for a multi-episode story arc on the NBC hit comedy "Friends."

She'll portray a professor of paleontology who becomes involved in a love triangle with David Schwimmer's Ross character and Matt LeBlanc's Joey. The actress will first appear on "Friends" in an episode scheduled to air April 24.

There's a big difference between being a regular and being a character in a few episodes... good to see everyone overreacted though.

Hey, any excuse to whine about "political correctness."

Still kind of hoping that it's a love triangle between her, Phoebe, and Rachel.

Culminating in a big three-way.

If they want ratings...

They already used this storyline, why are they doing it again. Do you think people are stupid enough not to remember it or that the characters wouldn't remember doing the same thing a year or two ago?

I don't know if it was intentional or not, but that statement is both racist and hilarious at the same time.
