Konami Confirms Metal Gear for Gamecube
From Gamers.com
Could be a big deal if it's an exclusive or time-exclusive, but that remains to be seen. Doesn't sound like it's a port of MGS2 though.
Konami Confirms Gamecube Metal Gear
By: D. F. Smith February 27, 2003 4:10 PM PST
After much speculation over what may or may not have been said by Shigeru Miyamoto during his recent tour of Europe, Konami representatives have confirmed that there is a game in the Metal Gear series in the works for the Gamecube console. No other details are forthcoming, although it's likely that E3 will see the thorough clarification of the issue.
When that time comes, and perhaps at some point between then and now, we will endeavor to bring further news on the subject.

I don't think so.
Their GCN support has been virtually non-existent. Just a bunch of those Disney sports games. Most people seem to think that this is going to be a multi-platform remake of MGS anyways so it may not be that big of a deal.
Every real Konami game has gone to PS2:
Contra: SS
Silent Hill 2
Metal Gear Solid 2
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance
Suikoden 3
Zone of the Enders
Upcoming:
Silent Hill 3
Metal Gear Solid 3
Zone of the Enders 2
Castlevania
Gradius 5
TMNT

I don't think they'd be (have been) this secretive if it was just MGS2.
My best guess is that it'll be some kind of side story, maybe a 2.5 to fill in some plot between 2 and 3 on the PS2. Or maybe it will just be a port of 3, who knows.

I think it's most likely the first one, but I could care less since I beat it many years ago.
Hopefully it's an exclusive new game no one has seen yet.

All over the internet the word is that this is a remake of the original MGS (the PS1 game) with updated graphics. Not a huge deal in my book. Also not a huge coup if the GC does get this first since the game is like 5 years old.

How much demand will there be if it's just a remake of MGS? If it's just a straight port with better graphics, so what. Everyone who wanted it probably got it when it came out on the PS and MGS2 is already out with Substance coming out soon.
If the game was reworked, say like Resident Evil, then it may be worth getting when it drops down in price.

I'm definitely gonna remind you of this when the game comes out and it's not MSG2.

Well, if it's an MGS 1 remake, that falls under the same category. Either way, I'm not actually gonna eat an Xbox controller - it's made of plastic and I don't think I'd be able to digest it. You want me to die? Oh - I suppose you do.

Look, just eat crow.. or in this case a controller
You put your foot in your mouth when you said it must be a port of MGS2.
If I ever make a bet in a thread that if so and so is such and such then I will stab myself in the eyes with a sald fork and I'm wrong I'll eat crow... or stab my eyes.
Be a man and face the controller. besides it contains a healthy serving of Pride to eat.
