It's imported from Hong Kong. As far as I can tell, it's not a pirated version. They're just much quicker about releases to video in Asia. This is also a good way to say big "f-you" to Miramax for flip-flopping on the US release and slicing & dicing the film. Great thing is that it's less than $11.
Order quickly, this VCD was announced on several bargain sites.
Warning: I don't know what display system this VCD uses. It may be PAL. (I'm not even sure it's relevant on VCD). I have a multi-system TV so I'm not worried, but just so you're aware...

monkeypeaches.com is selling the official hero dvd from mainland china for 10.99 shipped. it has an anamorphic picture. the only catch is that it's region 6. supposedly there's an extended 20 minute cut dvd coming out later in the week but who knows
