Mech Assault Multiplayer question

I did a search for this and nothing came up so here goes:

When I'm in multi-player mode on Mech Assault and my mech is destroyed, I respawn as a puny little human with no mech. What the heck am I supposed to do? Is there a way for me to jack a new mech?

Thanks in advance

You must have been playing "Last Man Standing" mode. Play any of the others, such as Destruction or Team Destruction, and you'll respawn good as new every time you die.

i heard they do it this way so you can still get points by stepping on or shooting little guys in the middle of battle. Easy kills

Another weird thing about that. I also noticed that if I press in the right thumbstick, my little human guy explodes, like he was packed with C4 or something.

One last thing, I checked the game mode and it was set to "Grinder" and not "Last Man Standing". But I guess the settings are the same for both of these modes? One Mech and that's it. Last as long as you can?

IIRC, Grinder is only for single player "Multiplayer" against the computer. You stay alive for as long as you can while the computer keeps throwing more mechs at you. It's the default game if there's just one person playing and not available in actual Live playing. Think my record is 26 or something as a Catapult.
