"I turn on Sesame Street, I say 'oh Sesame Street, this is much better because now he'll learn how to count and spell. But now I'm watching it as an adult and I realize Sesame Street teaches kids other things. It teaches kids how to judge people, and label people. That's right. They got a character on there named Oscar. They treat this guy like §hit, the entire show. They judge him right in his face.

Parent: 'Oscar you are so mean, isn't he kids?'
Kid: 'Yeh Oscar, you're a grouch'
Oscar: 'Bitch I live in a fu*kin trash can! I'm the poorest motherf**ker on Sesame Street. Nobody's helping me.'"

- Dave Chapelle

My favorite character was the Cookie Monster.

He may be from The Muppet Show, but I always looked forward to his reports on Sesame Street.

Nah, Kermit's a Sesame Street traitor.

He was seduced by the "muppet" side.

Up until the mid/late 80s, only Big Bird saw Mr Snuffleupagus. He always walked away before other characters entered the scene, so they always though Big Bird was talking about an imaginary friend.

This changed when accusations were made that the character led kids to believe that adults won't trust them, like how other characters didn't believe Big Bird about his friend.

Finally, Mr Snuffleupagus was allowed to be seen by everyone on Sesame Street.

Bert & Ernie

I always loved how Ernie would exasperate the heck out of Bert. My favorite bit was when Ernie happened upon Bert taking a nap and went through a whole checklist to make sure Bert was asleep, including noting how "floppy and soggy-like old buddy Bert's arm is", and poking him. Of course, all of this woke Bert up so Ernie could remind him to take his nap.

Honk!
