Why is it BS?
The record company wants to hire an "idol" -- a family-friendly pop star.
It's their record label and they can decide who they want to be on it. Frenchie had to be kicked off just in case the home viewers would vote for her just for this.

I think it's funny that AI suddenly has a morals clause. They didn't seem to mind having an unwed mother in the Top 3 last year. Is that a good "idol"?

That's too bad. She was one of the more talented singers of the 32. I know that every where an American Idol contestant lives the local news probably does interest stories on them. I live in DC and the local interest story the news ran on Frenchie made me really like her. She is friends with a lot of people in the local HU community and on a regular basis goes out and buys food for the local homeless. Also, when I read her profile on the AI page I was even more impressed by her personality. She seemed to be very down to earth and had a really positive outlook and had some great ideas for the money she would have earned as an AI. I'm really disapointed in the AI franchise for this decision.

Kelly Clarkson was in a gay porn, but she wasn't in any sexual situation. The clip showed her at a party. Some guy says ,"Hey, what's your name?" and Kelly says,"What, what, I can't hear you!".

Personally, I thought Frenchie was very talented and was looking forward to seeing her in the Top 10. However, I think they probably made the right choice in removing her from the competition.
Like it or not, this is "American Idol". This is someone that has to have very broad appeal. While the public in general tolerates all sorts of behavior from their celebrities, the title of "American Idol" not only affects the current title-holder, but past and future idols as well. Not to mention the "brand" value. The last thing that FOX, Freemantle Media, and all past, current, and future hopefulls needs is this can of worms to tarnish the title.
The title aside, I hope that Frenchie's career will be successful-- independent of AI.

And looked what happed to Vanessa Williams. Of course, Frenchie doesn't have her looks but she can still sing. Look at Missy.
How is Fox going to explain this one on TV? They can't just ignore it. Lying about your age is one thing. Telling the American public that one of their contestants was involved in porn is another.

Little bit of a follow-up, from today's Salt Lake Tribune:
I think it's a good think they'll try and move her career forward. IMHO, she was one of the best singers on the show.
Frenchie Davis, the brassy-voiced "American Idol" semifinalist from Washington, was tossed out of Fox's talent competition after she acknowledged she worked for an adult Web site four years ago. Fox says she will be replaced on a show airing Feb. 25. But co-producer 19 Entertainment, which signs "Idol" winners to recording contracts, says it will "endeavor to do all in its power to help Frenchie further her music career," USA Today reports. Fox had no problems with disclosures that "Joe Millionaire" hunk Evan Marriott had a brief career as an underwear model or with the fact that "Millionaire" finalist Sarah Kozer once starred in fetish flicks. So why give Davis the boot? A Fox representative said that the network will "not comment any further about the situation."

i saw her on ET and she was wonderful. according to her she modeled in some lingere so I'm not sure what that means. But man she can sing! and she has a great attitude to boot. I understand their decision but IMHO I think that if they told her story and allowed her to explain herself that she would make an incredible idol. Her personality is as beautiful as her singing.

Kelly was in a gay themed film. She stayed.
The difference with Frenchie is that she was supporting an illegal activity (underage porn). She wasn't underage herself, but when you align with somthing, you're supporting it.
Nikki & Kelly didn't do anything illegal, they just made questionable decisions.

Launch.com reports that before she was an American Idol, Kelly Clarkson appeared in a gay video. The film, entitled "Issues 101," tells the story of student running for president of a fictional college's Greek system. Clarkson plays a coed who is asked by a fellow undergrad to have sex and then is seen leaving with the guy. According to Launch, Clarkson is fully clothed in her cameo.
The film was shot prior to Clarkson's "American Idol" run. "Issues 101" director John Lincoln III told Launch that "it was a fluke that Kelly did the film. We were looking for actresses who didn't mind being in a gay-themed film, and Kelly's generous spirit fit perfectly in our 90-minute project."
Ted Trent, owner of the outofthecloset.tv website that is distributing "Issues 101," says that that "Issues 101" is not a porn movie, as it does not show penises or insertion shots. Rather, he likens the sexual content to imagery seen on Showtime's "Queer As Folk" and other programs, which show men hugging, kissing, and in intimate situations.
